Ekurhuleni Mayor connected with toilet tender scandal to the value of R1,9 billion denies that he has done anything wrong

The mayor from Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina, refused to accept that he had done anything wrong in the scandal of a R1,9 billion chemical toilet bid.

He tried to explain that the three-card tender awarded in June 2016 could not be his fault as he only started as mayor in May 2016.

He says the media are asking questions to the wrong person about the matter, and if answers are sought, they should ask the people who were involved in the award of the tender.

He recommended that Mondli Ngugubele be questioned about the scandal that was a partner in the African Independent Congress (AIC), but also said that only R872 million was spent on the toilets.

He said there was nothing wrong with it, and there was no R1.9 billion scandal at the municipality.

ANC-regime still denying that farm attacks and murder is a problem – Increase and brutality of SA farm attacks escalated by 60% between 1999 and 2019

Farm attacks rise by 60% over the past decade – TAU SA announces semi-annual agricultural crime figures.

TAU SA is extremely concerned about the increase and brutality of farm attacks in South Africa, with a 60% increase over the past decade.
These statistics were announced today during the organization’s announcement of farm attack and murder figures.

According to TAU SA’s official Incident Register, which has been updated since 1990, 1 125 farm attacks were reported between 1990 and 1999. Between 2000 and 2009, 1 407 cases – a 22% increase – were reported, and 2 616 farm attacks across the country – a 60% increase – have been recorded in the past nine years from 2010 to 2019.

In the corresponding times, farm murders increased from 637 (1990 to 1999) by 22% (799 murders) between 2000 and 2009. In the next nine years to 2019, 586 farm murders occurred.

Economic growth and housing in South Africa are not keeping up with population increase- housing shortage is a disaster waiting to happen

Everyone in South Africa deserves human dignity, a habitable home and food on the table. The reality, however, is that the country’s economic growth rate of less than 1% is not keeping up with the population increase of 1,5% and unless that changes, we will be faced with unemployment and poverty.

There are people who are able to afford homes, but then homes are not readily available and that complicates matters unnecessarily.

There are many causes for the housing shortage in the country. One is illegal immigration. There is an unbridled influx of people across our country’s borders. Corruption is another big problem. Millions of rand that could have been used for housing has been lost. Similarly, the loss of expertise is another contributing factor.

The housing problem is bound to get a lot worse very fast due to the depopulation of the rural areas as there is a shortage of jobs. People go to the cities in the hope of finding a job.<

Violent protesters torching Ottosdal buildings, burning tires and barricade roads over lack of service delivery

Protesters in Ottosdal in North West have moved to the central business district and are torching the municipal buildings. The Traffic Department’s offices and the boardroom of the local municipality are on fire.

The old library building in this town is also being vandalised by angry residents.

Motorists are being pelted with stones as they try to pass by and burning tyres are used to barricade roads.

Workers at two mining companies in Ottosdal, Wonderstone and Idwala, failed to report for work this morning as a result of the march that is underway. These mines are therefore not operational.

Schools, clinics and foreign shops are also closed at this stage. OFM News’ correspondent Joba Matsheng is at the scene and heavy black smoke is at the center of developments.

Attempts to get comments from the Department of Education’s spokesperson, Elias Malindi, failed as his phone rang unanswered.

More than 12,000 jobs in poultry industry can be lost – SA industry was harmed by ANC regime when tons of frozen, poorer quality chicken carcasses where imported from USA

The poultry industry is facing a new crisis that could cause more than 12,000 jobs to be lost in the industry.

The SA Poultry Association is accused of having employed a so-called “gate-waiting” strategy when applying their 82% tariff increase to poultry imports.

The application was sent to the International Trade Administration Committee, which has to make the decision in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry.

The suspicion is that a 66% increase in the import levy will be approved, but the unpredictability in the department may yield other surprises.

The poultry industry has suffered major losses over the past few years when the government imported tons of frozen chicken carcasses from the US, the grade of which is much weaker than the domestic product.

Cyril’s honeymoon days are over – politicians and business leaders are frustrated over empty promises and pace of land reform

It appears that ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa’s honeymoon is over with business leaders who are frustrated with his pace of reform and his shadowy cabinet appointments and portfolio chairpersons.

Economists declare that his cabinet appointments and his State of the Nation address did not inspire confidence.

Many promises, but details of funding to realize the promises are lacking. Compromise appointments to prevent faction battles within the ANC prevent portfolios such as education and manpower from sitting with persons who do not have the ability to address problems in their department. Chris Schutte, CEO of Astral Foods, states that Ramaphosa’s bullet trains and new cities are a brainchild as most municipalities are struggling with service delivery.

The FW de Klerk Foundation was not available for comment after their express support of the president.

Humour has it that  ANC regime can reduce SA’s  debt burden by increasing VAT to 20% – nobody is keeping pace with the fact that corruption are the cause of state debt

The government should increase the VAT rate by at least 5% to reduce the debt burden in the provincial roads’ maintenance account which is now six times higher than the province’s expenditure.

Reports indicate that the South African roads, which are in a dire state, are now desperately seeking funds since there is was already a backlog of R197bn in 2013 to more than R400bn.

The figures are the logical conclusion that is made by experts and with very bad humour that this  problem can be solved by increasing VAT to 19% or 20%, but the problem may escalate if the funds end up in corrupt hands.

#Blackprivilege: ANC wants Eskom to come to the aid of residents who, for long periods, have been struggling without electricity, because they refused to buy it. This is discrimination and totally unfair!

The ANC Caucus in Johannesburg has called on Eskom to lace up its bootstraps and reconnect the power supply to communities like Soweto, Ivory Park and Diepsloot.

The call from the party came in the form of a march to the power utility’s headquarters at Megawatt Park in Sandton.

The ANC Caucus handed over a memorandum of demands to Eskom, with the power utility vowing to respond within seven days.

What are ANC’s demands to Eskom?
The party wants Eskom to “fulfil its mandate of providing the City’s residents with electricity”.

In a statement, the ANC Caucus lambasted the power utility for not tending to the needs of residents in areas like Soweto, Ivory Park, Diepsloot and Orange Farm, who have been left with no electricity for long durations these past few weeks.

60,000 Guns Unaccounted For in SA – 24 Guns Lost or Stolen Everyday

An unholy amount of unlicensed firearms are doing the rounds in South Africa. “Destroying” these rogue guns may be the best way to prevent crime.

Each year, 9 July marks the UN’s Gun Destruction Day, which aims to raise awareness about the amount of illegal firearms that end up fuelling crime across the world. The timing could not be more poignant in South Africa, following a brutal weekend of gangland violence in Cape Town.

A total of 13 people were murdered over the course of two days in Philippi – a bloodbath which has since prompted government intervention from Minister of Police Bheki Cele. The area is blighted by gangsterism, and locals have been protesting against their dire living conditions since the beginning of last month.

African mentality in SA exceeds all expectations – Is there still environment where education can take place peacefully – Violence is destroying education system, burning down schools in black neighbourhoods is increasing

Violence in and at schools is destroying the education system of the country. The burning down of schools in black neighbourhoods is one of the increasing trends. As residents become angry about service delivery, schools and libraries are being burnt down.

One of the major problem that currently exists is cases of assault and murder on school grounds. In Johannesburg, a 16-year-old pupil was stabbed to death by a fellow scholar last week.

Furthermore, there were cases in Pietersburg, Tlhabane, Mondeor and Lentegeur where attacks on scholars by scholars occurred. Calls now come from communities that schools should be placed under police and / or military guard. Is it an environment where education and especially education can take place peacefully?

On a positive note, in the years of the existence of the Movement of Christian People’s Education, there was no incident of violence at the 35 CVO schools under their control.

ANC losing the crime battle in SA? – 52 murders daily and has the highest rape rate with 65 000 reported cases a year

The question is increasingly asked whether crime in SA is still under control if the statistics are measured. According to Bheki Cele, the Minister of Police, the South African Police have not yet lost the fight against crime in the country.

Looking at statistics, the picture looks sad. It appears that 52 murders took place daily in the 2016/17 year. Rape figures show that SA has the highest worldwide figure with 65,000 reported cases a year. It is known that many rapes are never reported due to the stigma AND the inability of the police and judicial system to get convictions. South Africa has the highest incidence of child and baby rapes in the world.

Vehicle hijackings are high compared to other countries while transit robberies have become an epidemic.

Life for Public Protector, gets hot – complains of death threats and incident where staff are poisoned

Public Protector’s arguments in her report are now being strongly condemned by Minister Gordhan’s supporters, but the ANC’s President Ramaphosa is silent on the matter.

Informed observers say Busisiwe Mkhwebane acted incorrectly in her role as a Public Protector by focusing only on ANC’s Pravin Gordhan.

It appears that her report is not without errors and is now being disputed.

Instead of focusing on the facts of her report, she complains about the difficult circumstances under which she is working.

She referred in the report to the death threats she received, and a “mysterious” car accident in which she was involved and also referred to an incident where one of her staff was poisoned to receive hospital treatment.

About the relevant facts, little has emerged except to recommend that the president dismiss the minister.
