Corruption Watch researchers in Durban:- Blatant bribes for driver’s licences

Durban – A wink, a nod and a couple of thousand rands will buy a driver’s license – it’s no secret, even though it has a major impact when it comes to counting the loss of lives on South Africa’s roads.

The Independent on Saturday team went undercover to investigate what a Corruption Watch researcher said was standard practice to pay a bribe, and prospective drivers were almost guaranteed to fail if they could not or were unwilling to pay.

The team found blatant bribery at three KZN RTI (Road Traffic Inspectorate) centres.

Responding yesterday, “gravely concerned,” Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s undertaking to fight corruption at all levels, such illegal activity would “not be tolerated in any way, shape or form”.

Are the rats now fleeing the sinking ship? – Radebe and Cwele also resigns as ANC MPs

Jeff Radebe and Siyabonga Cwele are the latest members of the previous cabinet who also resigned as MPs. Add to this Susan Shabangu, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duma and Nomaindia Mfeketo, then it’s six ex-ministers who are suddenly no longer able to serve in parliament.

Radebe are “praised” because he held six cabinet posts in his term. The moves were indicative after 1994 to “take away” a minister from one position if it was not going well in the department, just to re-deploy him or her in another portfolio.

Political analysts rightly ask whether the resignations are seen as dissatisfaction because they have been posted or are there other dark reasons behind the resignations?

This past month of May 2019 saw an unprecedented escalation of rural attacks and murders on farms in South Africa.

The attacks now seem to intensified as-if there is an urgent hidden agenda to execute some very sinister agenda timeline since Cyril Ramaphosa claimed the presidential chair as his own in a soft koo-de-etat during the recent election vote rigging escapade that left most minority parties totally speechless.

WHITE South Africans and white South African farmers have been persecuted for a while now. They are forced to fear for their lives. Rustenburg police refuse to open trespass case for land grabbing thugs

A land grabbing situation is unfolding in the North West province, South Africa. And the Rustenburg police are refusing that the landowner open a trespassing case.

Clearly, the SAPS are not interested in protecting legal landowners property rights in the country. Afriforum is now assisting the community and the landowner.

This all whilst the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa, says land grabs don’t exist in South Africa.

‘They’re coming’:- A farmer’s chilling words to his wife before robbery

“They’re coming!” – These were the chilling words that a Stellenbosch protea farmer shouted to his wife while doing a security check after hearing that a farmer in the region had been shot dead.

“It’s devastating,” an emotional Gerald Knight told News24 about being robbed hours after Louiesenhof vintner Stefan Smit was murdered.

“We’ve lived here for 25 years and right now, I feel like just leaving,” said Knight.

However, he has his protea plantation to look after, even if he is in terrible pain from the broken ribs he sustained during the robbery.

The Knights were ambushed by three robbers on Sunday night while doing a safety check following an alarming WhatsApp group message about Smit’s murder.

Why Ramaphosa may have wanted to tie white people to trees – SA economy is dying while high-skilled emigration continues!

Prolonged low economic growth could lead to even more economic flight by those with skills and capital, regardless of racial grouping.

Is South Africa’s “radical transformation” from a leader to a laggard in the upper middle-income countries the cause or the result of a brain drain? It is hard to tell. What is certain is that there is an extremely strong inverse correlation.

It is so strong that one can use one statistic to deduce the other – and if high-skilled emigration continues, the country’s decline towards the ranks of the lower middle-income countries will also continue.

According to World Bank data on upper middle-income countries, South Africa’s per capita GDP was 61.1% higher than the average in 1995. In 2017, South Africa was no longer a leader in this band of countries, but a laggard. Our per capita GDP had shrunk to 75.7% of the average.

Markets give negative verdict, dark picture is being sketched despite the political euphoria surrounding Ramaphosa

According to the latest economic figures recently released by Stats SA from the SA, a negative picture is being sketched despite the political euphoria surrounding president Cyril Ramaphosa and the steps he takes to curb corruption.

These figures show that in the first quarter of this year, the economic growth rate was lower than expected, while GDP shrunk by a shocking 3.2%.  This fall has been the biggest fall since 2009 when the economy contracted 6.1% during a global economic downturn.

The manufacturing sector has shrunk by almost 9%, but all sectors have declined, with the agricultural industry being the weakest with a negative growth rate of -13.2%. After the SSA announcement, the Rand fell by 1.4%, while banks dropped by 3.2% on the JSE.  Economists believe these growth rates can force the Reserve Bank to lower interest rates later this month.

Rumor are doing rounds that someone or possibly an organization wants to kill the ANC president – But whoever is so stupid to kill Ramaphosa no one will ever know?

Rumors are investigated about the allegations that someone, or possibly an organization, is planning to assassinate the ANC president.

It is no secret that there are numerous people in ANC who blame Ramaphosa for having played a key role in disposing of Jacob Zuma as head of state.

It is also known that thousands of Zuma supporters are still not keen to serve under Ramaphosa’s rule.

Then there are a number of ministers who are out of the Zuma dispensation, who have lost their jobs, and are likely to feel badly grieved.

There are also quite a few ANC candidates on the list to become MPs, who apparently will not endure the test of the so-called ANC integrity committee.

Without accusing, observers also referred to the grievances that exist among the members of the Malema group.

Now in charge of solving SA’s jobs crisis: one minister who tried to cover up Nkandla, and one who helped try to sell Denel to the Guptas

Unemployment is such a critical issue that he was renaming the department of labour, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Wednesday – and in name at least, jobs is now the first priority for the minister of employment and labour.

To that post Ramaphosa appointed Thulas Nxesi – who became deeply embroiled in covering up the extent to which then President Jacob Zuma had benefitted from massive state spending on his private residence in Nkandla.

Ramaphosa has made the right noises about the importance of small business and entrepreneurship in boosting the economy, and has acknowledged that small businesses face issues such as red tape that are directly within the control of his administration. The fact that he kept a ministry of small business while downsizing his cabinet drew praise.

South Africa’s white farmers brace for race war amid land expropriation debate

South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) has plans to amended the constitution, legalize land seizure without paying for it. The move is “not only about correcting a great historical injustice; it is also an absolute economic necessity,” according to President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

This time though, the proposed land reforms include expropriation without compensation, and this has stoked fears among white South Africans. Radical activists feel empowered and ready to take land by force triggering a heated debate about whether the plan would really help heal South Africa’s unequal society.

If you killed 4000 white farmers in mass 25 years ago and robbed, raped, tortured and murdered another 40,000 whites in their homes, you would have had a war.

SA liquidations increase by over 53% – economy’s poor performance is attributed to power supply, violence conditions, strikes, corruption, etc.

While the ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa made huge promises of foreign investors and many jobs for the 28% who are looking for jobs and not getting, new setbacks are coming to the surface.

The number of liquidations recorded in South Africa has increased by 50% during April this year, indicating the real state of the country.

Companies are losing the battle one after another due to the rough condition in the country.

Economists point out that a country’s growth is closely linked to power supply, violence, strikes, corruption, and a number of other factors.

Liquidations increased by just over 53% while in February and March it was less than 10% compared to previous periods.

What makes this remarkable is that the largest number of businesses voluntarily went into liquidation, which means there is no confidence in the business that the country’s economy will improve.
