12 Municipalities in the Eastern Transvaal are under suspicion of mismanagement and corruption – R2 billion worth of wasteful expenditure incurred

The Zondo Commission, which raises millions of rand from the state treasury, has now had to shift its focus to the Eastern Transvaal to hear evidence of corruption and state capture in state-owned entities.

Corruption in many municipalities in the province, as well as mismanagement and maladministration, seems to have been addressed.

At least 12 municipalities are suspected of being guilty of corruption and mismanagement, and it appears the municipalities of, among others, Piet Retief, Lydenburg, Carolina, Balfour, Volksrust, Ermelo, Standerton, Middelburg and Delmas and three location municipalities are in danger .

According to a report by the Auditor-General, about R2 billion of expenditure was incurred unlawfully among the municipalities, and more than R236 million was a mere waste of funds.

Of all the illegal expenses, one particular case was pointed out in excess of R5 million paid for repairing a road that does not exist at all.

ANC regime threatens financial survival of SA, Government debt increases every day

The ANC government is extremely dangerous and threatens the financial survival of South Africa, as its eagerness to lend remains unsaturated.

This is the opinion of an economic adviser following the SA Reserve Bank’s announcement that government debt is rising faster than provided by any institution.

The government’s total loan debt has risen to a breathtaking level of just over 58% of the annual budget.

Experts point out that South Africa has now reached the point where Moody’s can no longer turn its head, and even if that were to happen, it is an undeniable reality that the country has landed deep into the abyss of being subjected to junk status, and may not be coming out of it again soon.

Launching NHI is not going to improve healthcare – SA health services could face a shortfall of 400,000 nurses by 2025

The government’s intention to launch a National Health Insurance already appears to be incoherent. Apart from the only two days the members were given to an advisory committee to determine which medical conditions would be covered, another “massive problem” has now emerged:

Prospective nursing staff are hampered by the accreditation of Institutions where they had to be trained, apparently placed on the long track. This means that no nursing staff will be trained next year. Currently, there is an estimated ratio of 1 nurse to 1,000 patients nationwide and this ratio will continue to deteriorate.

Another problem is students who want to be trained as nurses for Intensive care, neonatal care and pediatrics, trauma, and casualty posts. Maintaining our current primary health care is already showing serious shortcomings and will now be further undermined.

Rotten ANC-regime gives valuable Sandton land to Gupta’s, steals Alexandra renewal money

How is it possible that this rotten ANC organization, which has proven over and over that it is nothing more than an organized criminal cartel, fool the people of South Africa for so long? In another massive scandal it has come to light that the land on which the Sandton Gautrain station is built and the space above it that is earmarked for development was raked in by the Gupta front company ‘Regiments Capital’ totally for free.

This massive scandal dates back to the days when the ANC still ruled Johannesburg. It came to light by chance when the water supply was cut off to the Gautrain station because the property taxes were not paid. The 3 hectare land of the Gautrain station belongs to Cedar Park 39 Pty Ltd, which is part of the Regiments group. Regiments was used by the Guptas to render fictitious so called consultancy services to State Owned Enterprises like Eskom, Transnet and South African Airways.

EFF demands that Kruger National Park name be changed – “All statues of apartheid and colonial killers must be removed, including public places”

Julius Malema, leader of the EFF on Heritage Day again called that the Kruger National Park’s name should be changed and that “Die Stem” should be removed from the national anthem.

According to Malema, the country must call for a collective legacy for a fairer future after a divided, painful and unjust past.

According to Malema, the beginning of all heritage is land and it is the foundation of African people’s claim to any heritage.

“We therefore reiterate our call for land redistribution without compensation for equal redistribution to ensure that land is returned to its rightful owners.”

The party further demanded that the names of public places with “colonial and apartheid names” be changed.

SA’s prisons could run out of beds as crime rate surges

The growing crime rate and rise in life sentences meted out to offenders may mean that there won’t be enough beds for criminals in SA’s prisons.

The department of correctional services has conceded that it is worried about over-crowding which is on a steady rise, as evidenced by the latest shocking crime statistics.

The department is forced to be creative to deal with this dilemma and is looking at a host of measures to ease the “stubborn pressures of incarceration, forever increasing due to high crime levels”.

The department believes that the judiciary should consider other forms of punishment instead of sending all criminals to jail.

For example, less serious crimes should lead to a sentence of community correctional supervision, the department said.

It also wants a debate on whether incarceration is the most effective form of rehabilitation for some offenders.

Police officers spent R5.3m on fake EFF and Fees Must Fall investigations

A pair of top officers are believed to have paid money from a crime intelligence slush fund to ‘informants’ which didn’t exist. A report in the Sunday Independent accuses top police officers of looting crime intelligence funds to the tune of R5.3 million.

The publication says an internal report shows that these officials embarked on supposed investigations into the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Fees Must Fall movement leadership, but spent the money meant for these investigations on luxury hotels.

They also allegedly paid various amounts to non-existent “informants”.

How does it feel when the tables are turned? Thieves hit home of national police commissioner Khehla Sitole

Thieves have made off with two TV sets from national police commissioner Khehla Sitole’s Mpumalanga home, SAPS confirmed on Monday.

Spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said the items were stolen by criminals who were “purely opportunistic”.

The commissioner’s house is under construction and the work was near completion when the theft occurred last Saturday while the General was attending a summit in Cape Town, Naidoo said.

Nothing else was stolen from the house.

News24 understands that there was no sign of forced entry onto the premises.

Investigations are underway.

Nzimande will not allow Afrikaans-based occupational training college, Sol-Tech to operate if it excludes certain groups

Higher education minister Blade Nzimande says he will not allow a proposed Afrikaans college to operate if it contravenes the bill of rights by excluding certain groups based on race or culture.

Nzimande was speaking in Durban on Monday regarding the construction of an Afrikaans-based occupational training college, Sol-Tech, in Centurion, Pretoria.

Construction has already begun on the college, which is being spearheaded by trade union Solidarity.
Nzimande said the constitution is clear in that there is nothing wrong with private companies or entities establishing higher education institutions – but should any institution go against the bill of rights, he would not sign off on it.

“As you might be aware, there are media reports that Solidarity aims to build a R300m private Afrikaans university in Centurion. As a department, we have not received any application for any such institution,” he said.

Cash-strapped state arms company, Denel failed to supply R250 million worth of military Casspirs to the government of Chad after already receiving R100 million deposit

Despite having been paid a R100 million deposit almost two years ago, the state arms company Denel has failed to supply R250 million worth of army vehicles to the government of Chad.

In 2017, Chad bought 40 military Casspirs from Denel, but the company could not deliver them while officials squabbled over the ownership of the lucrative intellectual property (IP) rights – which had been given to the Gupta family for free – to build the vehicles.

Chad has since cancelled the contract and demanded its deposit back from the cash-strapped arms company.

Denel’s failure to deliver comes at a time when the firm is struggling with liquidity issues.

Last month, Denel received a much-needed bailout of R1.8 billion from Treasury.

At the time, Treasury said the company would get another billion next year.

Hospitals held up due to shortage of basic medical supplies – ANC regime want to implement NHI, but is currently unable to manage hospitals

Due to a lack of basic medical supplies, all non-emergency operations were discontinued at the Johannesburg Hospital.

The problems have been going on for weeks and doctors now have to “beg” for medical supplies at neighboring hospitals to deal with serious cases.

The Gauteng Health ministry has confirmed that non-emergency surgery for some patients had to be rescheduled at Charlotte Maxeke hospital in Johannesburg due to a shortage of medical supplies.

This was in response to a statement from the Democratic Alliance’s spokesperson on health, Jack Bloom, who said about 20 patients had been told that their operations could not go ahead. Kwara Kekana, spokesperson for the province’s health MEC, Dr Bandile Masuku, said eight patients were affected by the issue. The patients were all scheduled for arthroplasty.

“There has been a problem for some weeks with procurement at this hospital,” Bloom said in his statement.
