Northern Cape Municipalities will cover the expenses to ferry 2000 people to inauguration of Cyril Ramaphosa

Municipalities in the Northern Cape will be expected to cover the costs of bussing 2 000 people from the province to Pretoria for next week’s presidential inauguration.

This is according to AfriForum Northern Cape who handed over a ‘Stop the Bus’ petition to the provincial Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (Coghsta).

The petition calls on the department to refuse the presidential request that municipalities carry the cost of bussing thousands of people to Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria for the presidential inauguration next week.

The petition was handed over by the AfriForum co-ordinator in the Northern Cape, Lize-Marie Smit, to Coghsta head of department Bafedile Lenkoe on Wednesday.

Smit said that the petition stemmed from a request by the Presidency that municipalities from each province in the country carry the cost of bussing people to Loftus Versfeld for the presidential inau

DA in bed with EFF – rumours are going around that the parties are in negotiations about installing a red beret as mayor in Tshwane

EFF leader Julius Malema said on Thursday that his party was in negotiations with the DA to formally partner in governing Tshwane and Johannesburg.

Addressing a media conference at the party’s head office in Johannesburg, Malema said his party wanted to take over the Tshwane mayorship.

He said the party would also join government in the city of Johannesburg as members of the mayoral committee (MMCs).

“This is a power-sharing … We have already started talking to the DA. We are sharing power in Joburg, we are sharing power in Tshwane,” said Malema.

From the EFF’s own performance in the recent elections, to Cyril Ramaphosa’s ANC conundrum and the rise of the FF+ – these are the highlights from the EFF’s media conference on May 16 2019.

He said the EFF would not be calling for a motion of no confidence in current mayor Stevens Mokgalapa of the DA, but would like to take over in a manner t

City Council of Pretoria will replace 13,000 prepaid power meters in the next 4 months after it has been found that PEU Capital Partners’ meters are not valid

The city council of Pretoria wants to replace 13,000 controversial electric meters, and for that they apparently have only four months to do.

The 13,000 prepaid meters have to be replaced by a court decision since the council has entered into an invalid contract and the so called meter is also believed to be illegal devices.

Many workers now have to move through certain areas’ as well as building buildings to find out if the meters in the buildings are legal, as the PEU Capital Partners meters are not valid.

This means that the multi-billion daily payments made by the city to PEU in terms of the contract which are considered unfordable, will also come to an end.

There is uncertainty that is responsible for the cost of replacing the meters, and whether it is the innocent consumer who has to pay for it.

Breaking News: Pretoria train crash – Fingers pointed at ANC “negligence” for deadly collision

After four people were killed in the Pretoria train crash, the DA have wasted no time in finding a source of blame for the horrific accident.

Four people have been killed and more than 200 people were injured following the Pretoria train crash on Tuesday morning. A head-on collision saw both trains derail, causing carnage on the tracks. John Moodey is the Gauteng spokesperson on public transport for the DA. He has demonstrated no hesitation in tying the incident to ANC policy, saying that they are failing to take passenger safety seriously.

The DA representative recalled two major incidents from 2018, where separate smashes at Eloff Extension in Selby and Kempton Park left hundreds of travellers injured. As there were no fatalities, Moodey believes the ANC were happy to just mov
