Billionaire Patrice Motsepe was elected to the board of the World Economic Forum in Davos at the gathering last week.

Motsepe is a businessman and founder of African Rainbow Minerals, of which he is also the executive chairman.

The announcement comes via social media after a storm erupted because he said earlier that South Africa loves Donald Trump.

During the Davos meeting, the billionaire had the opportunity to enjoy a luxury dinner with the US President.

“The president told the World Economic Forum in Davos that the bank would remain independent and that there’s not nationalisation on the cards, now he’s saying something different. This is very bad for investment. People won’t invest in a country where the president speaks with a false tongue.”

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered a major blow to the rand this week after making it explicitly clear that the ANC, and thus government, will move ahead with its goal to nationalise the South African Reserve Bank.

Lies, Lies and just more lies! It is absolutely sickening how Ramaphosa is deceiving the world by telling foreign investors at Davos that law and order are recovering in the SA, but in the same breath does not mention anything about the 50 killings that take place daily

The ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced that plans to stabilize Eskom would be announced within “a few weeks”.

According to him, the power supply is therefore unstable. However, he has not expanded what the plans are to pay off the R420bn debt.

He also boasts in Davos that law and order are recovering in the country, but mention nothing of the 50 murders that take place daily in the country.

It is said corruption took place while Ramaphosa was in the seat as the ANC’s deputy president of the country and he did absolutely nothing to stop it. So why will he step in now? To recover under the dispensation of the ANC-regime where many corrupt people are sitting in key positions, will be a very challenging task and in some instances not physically possible.

SA does not have a rosy image as an investment destination – SA has been slithering down the WEF’s annual Global Competitiveness Index reaching 67 out of 140 countries

To be blunt, SA does not have a rosy image as an investment destination. One does not have to look further than the WEF’s annual Global Competitiveness Index (CPI). In the 2006/2007 report, SA was ranked 45 out of 125 countries. Since then, SA has been slithering down the index, reaching 67 out of 140 countries in the 2018 report.

The country’s downward trajectory was hastened by poor rankings in health (mainly HIV/Aids and tuberculosis), information and communication technology adoption, skills (educational quality), the number of days it takes to start a business, institutions (crime, police services, public trust in politicians, diversion of public funds, efficiency in government spending, irregular payments and bribes, business costs of crime and violence), and infrastructure (quality of electricity supply). These are all areas under direct control of the government.
