ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa’s praise of Robert Mugabe has drawn sharp criticism from his own and liberal ranks.

Ramaphosa’s description of Mugabe as an “outstanding leader” in Africa, according to the media, is a slap in the face of millions of Zimbabwean residents who had to flee to SA because of Mugabe’s policies and human rights violations. Ramaphosa is now openly described as characterless and a chameleon who will say so today and tomorrow will change his position again just in favor of his listeners.

The views that show that things are going even worse with South Africa than Zuma was in power are accepted from several places, and there is the suspicion that he will not serve as president for long.

Zimbabwe’s former President Robert Mugabe has passed away

Robert Mugabe, the former president of Zimbabwe, has died aged 95. His 40-year leadership of the former British colony was marked with bloodshed, persecution of political opponents and vote-rigging on a large scale.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa shared the news of Mugabe’s death on Twitter.

Mugabe, who became Zimbabwe’s first black leader at independence from Britain in 1980, first as prime minister and then as president from 1987, was once touted for investing heavily in health and education in the early years of his rule, leaving his country with one of the highest literacy rates in Africa.

He however became increasingly unpopular as the economy began to wane, later facing charges of cracking down on his political opponents and rigging elections to stay in power.

It’s a historic day for thousands of white farmers in Zimbabwe: The government have agreed to compensate landowners affected by land reform policies.

Zimbabwe’s Finance and Agriculture Department have confirmed that they have begun the process to compensate the white farmers who were dispossessed of their properties, following the brutal implementation of land reform policies 19 years ago.

Zimbabwe land developments – latest news:
Reuters report that 4 500 white farmers were forced to redistribute the land to around 300 000 black families. As Zimbabwe secured independence in 1980, families of a colonial heritage still held claim to most of the land in the country. However, the cruel manner in which the expropriation was handled sent shockwaves around the world.
