Violence against foreigners escalated this past weekend amid the ANC president’s statement that action will be taken against the perpetrators.

Even more businesses were targeted over the weekend and police rubber bullets and grenades could not stop the angry residents from continuing with their looting.

Police have confirmed that a renewed wave of xenophobia has erupted, and many foreigners’ shops and property have been looted and stripped of their goods.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government is considering retaliation by nationalizing the larger businesses there. Institutions such as MTN and Shoprite could possibly be in the running.

Public Protector is being sued for R350 000 – this while she’s still unable to pay the previous claims

A complainant who allegedly approached the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, about an incident 10 years ago now wants to file a claim of R350,000 against her because she was unwilling to investigate the matter.

The complainant allegedly made a case against a senior member of the Limpopo Office of the Public Protector, and won the case.
The complainant, one Nchaube Peter Seabi, alleges that the head of the OB office in the northern province, Hamilton Samuel, insulted in the OB office in 2011 but that the Public Protector refused to investigate the matter.

However, the matter is quite confused, and whether the complainant can be a strong case against the PP will learn the time.

‘Legacy of apartheid’ to blame for anti mass immigration violence says minister Naledi Pandor

International relations minister Naledi Pandor met ambassadors and high commissioners from Africa on Monday to ease tensions after a diplomatic fallout triggered by attacks on foreign nationals that have rocked the country.

Pandor told the diplomats, among other explanations, that the legacy of apartheid which caused economic inequalities in the country was to blame for locals losing their cool with their African brothers and sisters in a scramble for crumbs.

This phenomenon was among a “toxic mix of socio-economic challenges” and should not be overlooked if long-term solutions were to be found to the current crisis, she said.

It was the same situation of poverty, lack of skills and economic inequalities in other African countries that continued to push migrants to the south in a quest for economic opportunities, said the minister.

As this southward migration increased, some migrants were cashing in with criminal intentions.</

Not safe for tourists in SA – Israeli woman gang-raped while on holiday in Mpumalanga

An Israeli tourist was gang-raped while on holiday in Mpumalanga at the weekend, police said on Monday.

Two of the woman’s companions were robbed during the ordeal, which took place at their holiday accommodation.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said on Monday that officers were still on the hunt for four men who attacked the three tourists at a Graskop lodge.

He said the gang attacked the woman and the couple. The men demanded that they take off their clothes.

“The men raped the woman and also robbed the three of their personal belongings before fleeing the scene,” Hlathi said.

No arrests have been made.

Money Robbed from VBS Mutual Bank: detailed account of how EFF leader Julius Malema’s lifestyle, business prospects and political aspirations were funded

ONE. The lifestyle, business prospects and political aspirations of EFF president Julius Malema were funded from the R16.1-million robbed from VBS Mutual Bank and paid out to Sgameka Projects, the company of the brother of EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, Brian.

Malema’s share of the loot was R5.3-million and it was dumped into his slush fund, Mahuna Investments. Malema spent the VBS money on clothing from Gucci and Louis Vuitton, groceries from Checkers and Woolworths, the Polokwane party venue Mekete Lodge, the house he once rented in Sandown, Johannesburg, as well as on accommodation and travel costs between EFF events. The name of his eldest son appears in the bank statements relating to school fees, and a trust named after his second son also received a small amount of VBS money. Ricoffy, Frisco, and Koffiehuis are definitely not coffee – not even nearly

South Africa has new draft rules about what may or may not be sold as coffee in South Africa – and some firm favourite mixtures that reference coffee in their names will be in the “not” list.

The department of agriculture, land reform and rural development last week issued the first draft of “regulations relating to coffee, chicory and related products intended for sale in the Republic of South Africa, in terms of legislation that allows it to set standards for agricultural products.

The rules specify 11 categories of “coffee, chicory and related products” that range from pure ground coffee to pure chicory. Those include “mixed coffee” or “coffee mixture”, which must be at least 75% coffee.

There is also a category for “coffee and chicory mixture”, which can be up to half chicory – though it must still have a caffeine content of at least 0.6%.

Dros rapists Nicholas Ninow pleads – Hope he rot in prison, piece of Schum!

Shocking details of how Nicholas Ninow raped a seven-year-old girl at a Dros restaurant in Silverton emerged on Monday when he pleaded guilty in the Pretoria high court.

Ninow, 21, disclosed what he did to the child when she opened the toilet door as he took drugs, and how he flushed away her underwear to conceal evidence.

In addition to rape, he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and defeating the ends of justice. He pleaded not guilty to assault. The state withdrew a charge of kidnapping.

In his plea explanation, read by his counsel Herman Alberts, Ninow said on the day of the incident in September 2018, he had consumed alcohol after taking a drug known as Cat.

Ninow said he had also taken “substantial” amounts of the drug a few days before the day of the incident.

Zuma found guilty to a charge of defamation and must pay R500,000 to former minister Derek Hanekom

Jacob Zuma, the ANC’s former president, who was busy with corruption during his reign, was found guilty in court of naming his former minister, Derek Hanekom.

Zuma allegedly said on the social network that Hanekom was an old spy of the enemy, which led to a court case in which Hanekom claimed R500,000 against Zuma.

The court ruled that Zuma should remove the offended comment on the social network, and he must properly apologize to Hanekom for his false accusation.

His legal representatives filed an appeal on Friday in an effort to set aside the Natal Supreme Court’s finding.

Judge Dhaya Pillay ordered Zuma to apologize to Derek Hanekom within 24 hours and remove the entry on the social network earlier, and is also responsible for the court costs.

Zuma’s lawyers say he did not portray Hanekom as a spy, but only as an agent of the enemy.

80% of Gauteng motorists refuse to pay tolls – This ANC-initiative has been a disaster since onset

The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, has come to the fore with his negotiations on the existence of the controversial e-toll in the Central Transvaal.

He held discussions with Outa, the AA agency, and several union leaders to get views and views on the matter.

Mbalula later told the media that the government is currently strongly considering the possibility of waiving the e-toll due to the long-standing resistance that causes it to operate at a total loss as 80% of motorists refuse tolls to pay.

To date, the government has been reluctant to comply with the demands and has even offered to reduce the toll tariff by 70%, but this has been rejected by numerous agencies.

Anti-mass immigration violence forces Nigeria to nationalize some of its SA businesses such as Shoprite and MTN

The xenophobic attacks in Gauteng on foreigners, and the looting of their businesses have now taken on an international turn.

Nigeria is considering nationalizing businesses such as Shoprite and MTN.

In its latest report, Bloomberg pointed out the rough times that might await South Africa if the most popular businesses, such as MTN, might be nationalized.

The Nigerian “All Progressive Congress Party” chairman said in a video recording also broadcast on the radio and TV channels that it would be advantageous for Nigeria to nationalize thriving South African businesses because of their insensitive actions against Nigerian businessmen .

The focus is clearly on MTN, which has a profitable industry in Nigeria, and that may even include Shoprite’s stores.

MTN has invested millions of Rand in the West African state, and is now becoming the first possibility of nationalization.

Limpopo roads agency faces R118m in damage claims from potholes alone due to poor management and maintenance

Poor management and maintenance of SA roads has resulted in damages claims that are eroding municipal budgets.

Picture Supplied. A road damaged by rain and snow, that is in need of maintenance. Broken asphalt pavement resulting in a pothole, dangerous to vehicles.

The Limpopo department of public works and its entity, Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), is facing a whopping R118 million worth of claims and a total of R40.2 million from pending claims for damages caused by potholes.

The Citizen also approached the City of Johannesburg and Cape Town, both run by the Democratic Alliance (DA). They refused to reveal the extent of damages they were facing from pothole-related claims.

Joburg spokesperson Nthatisi Modingoane said Saturday Citizen should request the information by using the Promotion of Access to Information Act.

SA economy worse under Ramaphosa regime than during Zuma era

According to Sakeliga’s CEO Piet le Roux, the political risk is currently worse than during Jacob Zuma’s reign. In a poll, 25% of respondents indicated that they were already moving portions of their operations to foreign ‘ports’.

A further 24% intend to “relocate” within the next three years. This diversification is seen as a hedging strategy.

Le Roux says that Ramaphosa’s hopes, plans and rhetoric are losing steam and that his term is characterized by social instability, riots, deteriorating business conditions and discriminatory policies such as Black Economic Empowerment.

Political analysts also point out that of all the many jobs that will be created, and the many foreign investments that would come in, just now come from, and it is striking how quiet the president has become over the business
