The Untouchables in a Gangster’s Paradise? Is it reasonable or ethical to make use of companies that do not consider themselves to be held accountable, for their actions in any private or public enterprise? While Big Tech has become seemingly untouchable, even from the US Supreme Court or Whitehouse, the same culture of supremacy, greed, lack of accountability, lack of transparency, and lack of responsibility seems to have created and sustained an environment in South Africa where IT negligence is acceptable, and lack of accountability is the norm, even when it comes to government institutions, contracts and tenders.

Controversial ‘Land or Death’ party BLF, finally deregistered as political party
“The political party Black First Land First (BLF) was finally registered as a political party. The South African Electoral Court on Thursday rejected the BLF’s appeal against its deregistration in July this year,” says Dr. Pieter Groenewald, FF Plus leader.
“In terms of section 16 (1) (c) of the Electoral Commission Act (Act 51 of 1996), the IEC may not register a political party that excludes membership on the basis of race, color or ethnicity. The BLF’s constitution states in Article 4 that only black people may be members of this party.
“In its appeal, the BLF has argued, among other things, that the wording in its constitution that only blacks may be part of the party has been misinterpreted and that people of other racial groups can be seen as black.
“The FF Plus argued that the BLF, through its leader, Andile Mngxitama, made it clear throughout the day that whites were not allowed to join the BLF.

BLF heads to court over IEC’s ‘unjust decision’ to de-register it as political party – believes that they have “strong prospects of success” on appeal
BLF deputy president Zanele Lwana said in a statement on Wednesday that the IEC had made an “unjust decision”.
“This is a banning order against BLF.”
The IEC announced in a statement on Monday it was de-registering the BLF as a political party, after the FF+ appealed against the BLF’s registration because it excluded membership based on race.
The IEC defended its decision to approve the BLF’s registration in 2016, as it said the BLF’s constitution did not expressly exclude white people from membership.
But the IEC de-registered the party after its leader Andile Mngxitama admitted to the Electoral Court that it’s constitution excluded white people from joining based on their race.
Lwana believes the BLF has “strong prospects of success” on appeal.
“We believe the IEC was bullied by the racist FF+ into banning our movement. The FF+ is terrified of BLF because it knows that we will ensure that land exp

BLF bites the dust – IEC has deregistered the Black First Land First as a political party
This is after an complaint by the Freedom Front Plus that the BLF excluded membership on the basis of race.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) statement: “Admissions by the BLF in its response to the appeal had served to clarify the position of the party, namely to exclude white people from membership.”
The FF Plus has welcomed the decision by the IEC, describing it as a victory.
“The fact that the appeal was granted means that justice prevailed. The FF Plus has been fighting for law and order in this case since January.
“It is unacceptable that the IEC violated the act by registering the BLF in the first place. Legislation may not be seen as mere guidelines, it must be complied with. No one is above the law,” says the party’s leader Pieter Groenewald.

Outdated devices used in South African elections for years, are not linked to a central online system -Cope’s Deidre Carter says her ID was scanned at four different voting stations
On Wednesday 8 May South Africans took to the polls in the 2019 elections. Reports are growing of voters describing how easily the ink was removed from thumbs, and cases of people attempting to vote more than once.
Cope’s Deidre Carter talks to CapeTalk’s Lester Kiewit about problems she experienced with both ink and the zip-zip machine scanning process.
She says after the ink easily rubbed off her thumb and she tested if she could have committed voter fraud and was shocked at the outcome.
She went to a different voting station with her now clean thumb and says she could easily have voted numerous times after her ID was scanned, again and again, receiving 4 more slips from zip zip machines.
I went through the zip-zip machine and was told, yes you can go and vote.
She called the presiding officer and explained what had happened and raised her serious concerns.
Theoretically, she could have voted five times.

Vote Rigging? – Voters say they were able to cast ballots more than once during yesterday’s election – Allegations of multiple voting a first for us, says IEC
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) said this was the first time it has faced allegations of multiple voting.
Several political parties have lodged complaints, while South Africans took to social media claiming they were able to cast ballots more than once.
Eyewitness News has seen videos of people able to vote more than once, easily breaching security measures at polling stations.
The commission held a briefing just before midnight, as social media went on overdrive about discrepancies in the disappearance of what is supposedly indelible ink and claims of multiple voting.
The IEC has confirmed it was investigating two cases of multiple voting brought to its attention.
Commissioner Mosotho Moepya admitted that they have never crossed this road before.
“We’ve never been here before, it’s possible that something has happened. We’re saying we’ll pursue every one of these instances.”
However, he said if

Malema slams patriarchy after his wife was asked to take out fake manicured nail with scissors before at voting point
Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and his wife, Mantwa, were shocked after an IEC staff member allegedly asked her to take out her fake nail to vote in Seshego on Wednesday.
“A staff member told my wife to take out her nail so they could put a mark and I found that bizarre and I asked where it was written that women who have long nails can’t vote.”
Malema said it was a patriarchal arrangement that had to be challenged now before it became institutionalised.
“The next thing they are going to say women must take out weaves because they want to see if it’s really them on the ID. Such nonsensical things, it starts small like that, before you know it is institutionalised. It must be challenged now,” said the EFF leader.
He claimed the person who puts a mark on people’s nails had a pair of scissors that they gave to women who had fake nails to take them out.
“The person who puts a mark on people has a pair of

MAY 8 Elections: Fly By Nights May Turn Election Into A Circus – The meat mincer has been switched on and only the fittest will survive
At the deadline yesterday a total of 34 political parties have shown their intention to contest the election on May 8. The IEC gave them time till 17:00 yesterday to pay their deposits and to submit candidate lists.
The IEC will now sift through the parties to establish whether they are compliant with the law and IEC principles and then set March 25 as the final return for queries for parties and nominated candidates.
Most of these parties will fall along the way as the election campaign picks up speed. There is no place to hide for facebook parties, opportunists and clowns – from now on it is hard politics under scrutiny.
It is doubtful whether more than 13 parties will eventually make it to Parliament; in fact, the number may for the first time since 1994 drop to less than 12. It is not so easy to draw 50 000 for a seat in Parliament as it looks from the comfort from a computer chair.
Only a day after the deadline the first shots are

Violence will be knocking at your door declares BLF after IEC refuses to register the party for municipal elections in 2019
The extremely radical and controversial leader of the Black First Land First (BLF) says there will be violence if the Independent Electoral Commission refuses to register its party for the forthcoming municipal elections of 2019.
He made the remark after it was disclosed that the BLF may not participate in the election in terms of the constitution that clearly notes that the conduct of hate speech and declaring of genocide is condemned.
He raised the threat during a media interview with reporters and said if the IEC prevented him from participating in the forthcoming election, violence would break out in South Africa.
Earlier, in a speech, he encouraged his audience to kill white people, which led to severe reactions from different resorts.
Meanwhile, it is expected that President Ramaphosa will act or at least give a warning but it did not happen.
