BLF bites the dust – IEC has deregistered the Black First Land First as a political party

This is after an complaint by the Freedom Front Plus that the BLF excluded membership on the basis of race.

According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) statement: “Admissions by the BLF in its response to the appeal had served to clarify the position of the party, namely to exclude white people from membership.”

The FF Plus has welcomed the decision by the IEC, describing it as a victory.

“The fact that the appeal was granted means that justice prevailed. The FF Plus has been fighting for law and order in this case since January.

“It is unacceptable that the IEC violated the act by registering the BLF in the first place. Legislation may not be seen as mere guidelines, it must be complied with. No one is above the law,” says the party’s leader Pieter Groenewald.

5 new laws the EFF wants to introduce in SA, chief among these is a new bill which will nationalise the South African Reserve Bank

The EFF wants to introduce a number of bills within the coming months, as the party seeks to have a greater influence in the country’s political sphere.

Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (25 June), the party’s chief whip Floyd Shivambu indicated that these would include a number of reforms as well as the introduction of entirely new pieces of legislation.

Chief among these is a new bill which will nationalise the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

First mooted by the party in 2018, the bill will make the institution state-owned and see its directors appointed by the finance minister rather than shareholders. This would bring South Africa in line with 90% of the world’s central banks, Shivambu said.

Clients’ personal details should be prohibited by law – customer information too easily circulated – even political parties such as DA have your personal cell phone number

The possibility that a credible client’s personal details can be circulated around the world should be prohibited by legislation, a Pretoria expert says.

Clients are often asked to make personal details available when doing business with an institution.

Hotels, shops and bankers, municipalities, government departments and other institutions are all responsible for handling the personal information of a person as highly confidential.

The fact that cellphone numbers are rapidly being sold to institutions is a first indication that not all institutions are reliable in protecting people’s information.

This raises the question why the people of South Africa remain so naive to make their personal details, and even their bank account details, available on request.
