Largest and busiest police station in Free State in dire condition – Once again proof that the current government cannot maintain the country’s infrastructure

The Park Road police station located in the Free State, Bloemfontein is by far the busiest and largest police station in the province. Unfortunately, the ANC regime allowed this building to operate without the necessary amenities, it was demolished halfway and had to operate without holding cells for more than a year.

Since the building is inoperative, approximately 50 detainees who have to appear in courts must be transported daily under police supervision to and from neighbouring detention cells situated in Bainsvlei, Bot-shabelo and Petrusburg.

Renovation work at the Park Road police station began in November 2017 after a R73 million contract was awarded to Soaring Summit Development, but according to Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille, the company failed to meet the timeframes and expectations. Their contract came to and end on August 2 this year.

Two villains who were responsible for a series of burglaries and were shot dead, all the time cops

Two police officers who tried to prevent two colleagues from robbing a post office in Greytown, Natal, were forced to open fire on the two villains.

Warning shots were fired before the two police officers were each shot dead before they could carry out the robbery.

The two on-duty police officers received a hint that a robbery would be carried out at the post office, and two members of the Falcons unit rushed there to prevent the robbery.

The police first wanted to put the rogue police vehicle out of action, but a bullet rain greeted them, and had to answer the fire.

It is suspected that the two deceased are responsible for the series of house burglaries that have plagued the town in recent months.

SAPS is on a new recruitment drive in an effort to fight crime – Most likely BEE compliant?

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has embarked on a nationwide recruitment drive to bolster crime fighting efforts.

SAPS management said it is seeking to attract youth between the ages of 18 and 30 for the 2019/2020 Basic Police Learning Development Programme (BLDP) intake.

Prospective applicants will need a Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate or National Certificate (Vocational), while those in possession of post matric qualifications are encouraged to apply.

“Those who previously served in a government department and were subsequently dismissed due to misconduct are discouraged from applying,” SAPS said.

The police service said that applicants will be subjected to fitness, psychometric and integrity testing as well as medical evaluations during the recruitment, selection and enlistment process. Vetting and fingerprint verifications will also be conducted.

Minister of Police must pay R300,000 plus interest for wrongful, unlawful arrest

The Constitutional Court ordered that the Minister of Police pay R300,000 plus interest since 2012 to Brian de Klerk for an unlawful, illegal, arrest.

A person has complained to De Klerk even though he had punched the complainant and was therefore injured, and the police decided to arrest De Klerk on the strength of it.

The law stipulates that a person must appear in court within 48 hours, but De Klerk has been in custody longer without being given the opportunity to state his case.

He was also not given the opportunity to apply for bail upon his first appearance in court, and had to return to the cells.

After the events, he decided to sue the Minister of Police, and the judge gave him the opportunity to state his case, and then ordered the police to show up.

SAPS members are involved in Pretoria drug trade, says Tshwane MMC

PRETORIA – Tshwane MMC for community safety and emergency services Karen Meyer on Monday said she had received reports and footage showing that members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are involved in drug dealing.

Meyer also lambasted the SAPS officers for allegedly preventing Tshwane Emergency Services personnel from dousing flames on buildings alleged drug peddlers were inhabiting.

Community members, mainly taxi drivers, on Monday assaulted suspects who had been arrested by police officers, before setting their premises on fire.

“Tshwane Emergency Services personnel were prevented by the crowds from accessing and treating the alleged drug peddlers, but they were also prevented from doing so by the SAPS to extinguish the fire.

What a surprise – 38% op Police officers in Gauteng fail shooting competency tests!

With 4500 civil claims against the police in Gauteng, 139 lost service weapons and only 38% of police officials who passed their shooting competency tests, the people of Gauteng cannot trust or take the Department for Community Safety seriously.

South Africa and Gauteng are on fire. The reasons for this are infinite and call for a debate on its own. The budget allocated to the Gauteng Department for Community Safety means nothing if the officials are incompetent and if the structures are riddled with corruption.

Illegal land grabs and farm attacks are on the rise in Gauteng and the ANC government cannot offer any solutions. In Lenasia and Hekpoort, innocent people have landed in the crossfire because the ANC made opportunist yet empty promises.

White lives don’t matter! Farm-owner succumbed to injuries after he was “made to drink poison” by attackers, police did not labelled this an official farm murder but home robbery instead

Police are reluctant to label the incident as a “farm murder”, but this partcular killing of a farmer in Fochville, Gauteng is just as horrendous.

A shocking case has surfaced from Gauteng this weekend after a farm-owner in Fochville succumbed to the injuries he sustained during a brutal attack at his property. The assailants are reported have tied up, beaten and poisoned the victim before making their escape, leaving him for dead.

The local police force in Westonaria have not labelled this an official farm murder. But the SAPS have instead filed it under a “home robbery”. The devils are in the detail – including the criminals’ motivations and movements – but authorities are remaining tight-lipped about much of the investigation. The victim died on-arrival at the hospital.

SAPS Operator of 10111 Emergency Number drops phone call while terrified woman pleads for help as she suspected a burglar was in her house

A 23-year-old Cape Town woman, living right across the Table View police station, phoned the police’s 10111 emergency number at 06:17 on Wednesday morning, and pleaded for help as she suspected a burglar was in her house. Until her bitter shock, the operator dropped the phone call after 25 seconds, without giving any assistance.

According to a report from Netwerk24, the petrified woman once again dialled the 10111 number and told the operator on the other side that she had heard someone in her home and that she suspected it was a burglar and begged for help. The police officer who answered the phone first wanted her contact details, requested confirmation that someone was in the woman’s house, and then asked her to spell her address before sending the police.

Missing: Mentally unstable policeman from Kwa-Thema – how did he managed to be recruited if his mentally unstable?

Police in Kwa-Thema are appealing to the members of the public who may know the whereabouts of Constable Siphamandla Jobe (26). He was last seen on 11 July 2019, at about 05:00.

During his disappearance, he was wearing boxer shorts, yellow t-shirt, an SAPS ceremonial jacket, a tie and he was also barefoot.

The member is not mentally stable. He may be aggressive and members of the public are warned not to confront him instead they may contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

SURVEY – SAPS CONSIDERED MOST CORRUPT INSTITUTION IN SA

Of the 47,000 citizens surveyed in 35 African countries, more than half believed corruption was getting worse in their country.

The Global Corruption Barometer (GCB) Africa on Thursday revealed that the South African Police Service (SAPS) is considered the most corrupt institution in the country.

The GCB is the largest, most detailed survey of citizens’ views on corruption and bribery in Africa. The survey was conducted between the end of July and September last year.

The survey also revealed that 64% of those surveyed think corruption levels increased during the past 12 months. However, overall the SAPS was considered the most corrupt institution in South Africa.

“It is absolutely essential that corruption in the police is tackled. I have to say that it is not an uncommon result across countries and not only in Africa. In some sense, police have extraordinary power and therefore it is there to be abused,” said Corruption Watch’s
