Zuma Asks for a Permanent Stay Of Prosecution – He claimed he was a victim of an orchestrated attempt by the NPA to link him to corruption

While former president Jacob Zuma filed a 300-page affidavit, asking for a permanent stay of prosecution, the National Prosecuting Authority believes that there is a strong case against him.

In his answering affidavit, Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions advocate Billy Downer SC requested the KwaZulu-Natal High Court to dismiss Zuma’s request. The reasoning behind Zuma’s request for the case to be dismissed is that he should have been charged together with Schabir Shaik, Nkobi group and Thomson.

It pays to be the son of the most corrupt president SA ever had – NPA to ‘drop’ corruption charges against Duduzane Zuma

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is expected to provisionally withdraw corruption charges against former president Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.

Duduzane Zuma’s lawyers have declined to comment until the court process is finalised on Thursday morning. NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane Aldo said the state would comment only after Thursday’s court proceedings. Homes and moveable assets like luxury cars were attached in terms of a Durban High court order issued on December 14, said the official, who asked not to be named.

Six Mercedes Benz’s, three Land Rovers, three Audi’s and a Jeep Wrangler were among the vehicles seized.

Hawks spokesperson Capt Simphiwe Mhlongo confirmed that their officers had accompanied the sheriff of the court and AFU offi
