Mkhwebane raises a stink, protects politicians in R631 million toilet scandal and resuscitate discredited SARS ‘rogue unit’ claims

The current Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane – actually a Zuma appointed spy – is a joke a day. It is bizarre that she calls a common “longdrop” – wait for this – “VIP toilet top structures” in her just released report that found that there was no political interference in the tender process when a R631 milion tender was awarded to the Siyenza Group by the Amathole District Municipality in 2014.

The fact that she notes there was no political interference is a joke in itself . For the record: This is one of the “smelliest” tenders ever, although there are so many of these looting schemes that one loses count.

The tender in question was rewarded to the Siyenza group and they were paid a full R631 million for the provision of around 66 000 open outside “longdrop” toilets with no connection to any pipe system. SA president gallivants while the country is being burned down, crime rockets and SEO’s splurging taxpayers money

While the country is burning, murders are increasing daily and government entities are splurging more and more money, the ANC president of the country is gallivanting throughout the globe from one assembly to another.

He and his entire troop of ministers and other GDP have just returned from the G5 summit where he blasted his technology ignorance around the world around the Huawei issue and G5 development.

He is on his way back to Nigeria from here to take part in the 12th extraordinary session of the African Union. He is accompanied by Naledi Pandor, Tito Mboweni and Ebrahim Patel.

The purpose of the session is to create an African Internal Market. It will be in full operation over 17 years after 17 years of negotiations. Whoever benefits from the agreement will know them alone.

Appointment of white CEO at Mango kicks up a storm – Black management Forum objects since he is white and because of skin colour not qualified for the position

The appointment of Nico Bezuidenhout as Chief Executive Officer of Mango triggered hysteria at the Black Management Forum (BMF).

The BMF will do everything in its power to fight the appointment. Their objection is that he is a white man and apparently is not qualified for the position.

Bezuidenhout stated that his previous experience at Mango and at SAA speaks volumes. BMF has stated in a statement that there are “thunderous black professionals” who are better qualified than Bezuidenhout. Bezuidenhout resigned from Mango in 2016 to join Fastjet. The SAA Council confirmed Bezuidenhout’s appointment and said it was a step in the right direction to stabilize the SAA group.

Funds allocated to Prasa will now be used to bailout failed Sanral e-toll systems

The “state” is presenting new legislation which will mean that funds allocated to Prasa will be transferred to bailout the failed Sanral e-toll system.

R2 billion is allegedly involved in the transfer after R 3 billion of Prasa money was already transferred to Sanral in 2018.

Transport economists believe this is a step in the wrong direction as the rail transport network urgently needs money to improve the outdated infrastructure so that rail transport can once again take its rightful place in the South African transport system and alleviate the pressure on roads.

Farm Manager ‘thrown into fire’ during violent ‘farm invasion’ in KZN

FARM ATTACK – A farm manager in KwaZulu-Natal was hospitalised with burns on Saturday after “violent thugs” invaded a farm, set it alight and allegedly threw him into the flames.

IFP MP Inkosi Bhekizizwe Luthuli revealed details about the incident in a statement on Sunday on behalf of the Mathulini Communal Property Association.

“The perpetrators of this violent and unlawful act are part of the ‘concerned group’ that is attempting to hijack a 7,500 hectare land claim from the Mathulini Communal Property Association and the Ndelo Community Trust, valued in excess of R300m. The farms that make up this land claim produce 400,000 tonnes of sugar cane annually and employ 1,200 people,” Luthuli said.

Joburg is a danger zone! Residents are exposed to dangerously high levels of uranium creating grave concern over the health impact of the mining industry on city-dwellers

Research conducted by North West University research professor Frank Winde in conjunction with scientists from Germany found high levels of uranium exposure in Johannesburg residents, according to a report in the Sunday Times.

Hair samples collected from Johannesburg residents found that exposure to dangerous chemicals and substances was a major problem in certain areas, and could be attributed to mine tailings dams, which store by-products of mining operations.

Winde found that levels of uranium in Johannesburg residents were similar to those found in European uranium miners, creating grave concern over the health impact of the mining industry on city-dwellers.

Samples were collected from barbers in the West Rand and the south of Johannesburg, with the results indicating that the toxicity was widespread, affecting areas with a high concentration of gold mines as well as suburbs far away from mining operations.

Correctional services: Thousands e-devices that cost taxpayers R1.8 billion rotting in storage

The department of correctional services has allegedly spent nearly R2bn on a programme to fit prisoners who are out on parole with electronic monitoring devices, but these devices remain unused because they can apparently only be fixed in Israel.

In one of the department’s most ambitious projects yet, it had hoped to electronically tag 10,000 prisoners who had been released on parole to keep them from committing more crimes, writes Jacques Pauw in the latest edition of online Afrikaans weekly Vrye Weekblad.

For several years, correctional services reported that the programme was a great success and that it heralded a new era in the management of paroled prisoners. Several times it asked parliament for more funds for the programme.

At the state capture commission, the department has been unmasked as a cash cow for the services company Bosasa, which won fraudulent contracts worth billions of rand by bribing top officials and politicians.

Dutch parliament ‘strongly opposes’ ANC’s racist land expropriation plan against white farmers in SA

The Solidarity Movement – which includes trade union Solidarity – said that it welcomed a motion adopted by the Dutch parliament on Thursday that “spoke out strongly” against steps being taken to allow for land expropriation in South Africa.

The motion was tabled by Martijn van Helvert of the Christian Democratic Appeal and Kees van der Staaij, leader of the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij.

“A majority of members in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament voted in favour of the motion and thereby instructed the Dutch government to take a clear stand on this issue through bilateral and other processes,” said Jaco Kleynhans, the head of international liaison for the Solidarity Movement.

City of Joburg only has 6 working fire engines – it is definitely currently facing a crisis when it comes to its firefighting capabilities

The City’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson, Nana Radebe, confirmed to News24 that the municipality had 12 fire engines at the moment, six of which have gone for repairs. They are expected back next week.

One Johannesburg resident was left fuming on Wednesday after his Linden house was gutted by a fire.

The City had to rely on a fire engine from Cosmo City, which is 20km away and one from Florida fire station that is 10km away, to battle the blaze.

According to Maggs Naidu, the Roosevelt Park fire station does not have a fire engine to assist nearby residents.

“It is a disgrace for the City. It is outrageous for a popular city to have six fire engines. People are dying because of its incompetence, people are being neglected by the City. Fortunately, no one died when the fire started in my house.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Disgruntled community members torched primary school following a protest against lack of electricity – How stupid can you be, asking for free education and now this?

Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is adamant that the department will not fix a primary school in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, that was burnt down by community members complaining about the lack of electricity.

Lesufi visited the Katlehong Primary School on Thursday, and said the department would arrange for the children at the school to be relocated to a nearby primary school.

He said the department would not fix the school.

People of Katlehong, this is what is left of Katlehong Primary School because the community is protesting against lack of electricity. This is completely unacceptable. Forget it if you think we will fix it! You will see to finish

Julius Malema says EFF ‘would take up arms’ to control South Africa – “Where there’s a need to use violence to stop violence, we will use it!”

When Julius Malema hits fifth gear, it’s very unlikely that any words he uses will come out minced. The EFF leader delivered on his most fiery press conferences in recent memory, attacking opposition parties, the media and even some of their own members.

Juju blasted the DA over reports they are fining homeless people for sleeping in pedestrian walkways. He said the move was an “extremely stupid statement”, and used it as a segue to announce that the red berets would no longer side with the Blues in any of their power-sharing municipalities.

The imperfect relationship has all but ended. Their alliances in Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane and even Johannesburg have started to crumble. But the theme of power and control raised its head once again when Julius Malema spoke about the EFF’s identity.

Stats show that there has been a sharp rise in SA migrants, with 8,200 people moving to New Zealand between April 2018 and April 2019

New emigration statistics show that an increasing number of South Africans are leaving for Australia and New Zealand.

This is backed by local information from immigration companies who have also reported a rise in the number of queries from South Africans looking to move their families overseas.

The Department of Home Affairs does not keep record of South Africans who emigrate permanently; however, receiver countries do keep track of immigrants, which gives an indication of how many people are actually leaving.

This data shows that the UK is still the most popular choice for South African immigrants, while a growing number are also choosing to settle in Australia and New Zealand.
