Public schools may no longer turn away learners due to age , SA pupils can now theoretically still sit at school desks even if they are 25-years old

In the previous dispensation, children, or scholars, completed their school career when they reached the age of 18 or 19.

With the Department of Basic Education’s policy that no learner may stay in a standard or grade for more than two years, this means that if a learner enters the secondary school phase by the age of fifteen, he or she can still theoretically sit at school benches at the age of 25. Schools were instructed this week that no learner could be kicked out because of his age.

This follows after most of the violence at schools took place. A 19-year-old Grade 11 pupil killed a 18-year-old fellow in Grade 8 at Forest High School with a knife.

Well-known educators point out that public schools are now a dangerous place for children, and parents must realize that they are still responsible for their children’s education and safety.

Videos of Cape pupils having sex ‘at school’ go viral – If this is shocking, then think what will happen with the new Life Skills curriculum being introduced to schools in near feature

Videos in which Cape Town pupils are having sex at two different schools “have spread like wildfire” on social media.

However, education authorities say they cannot investigate as the one incident apparently took place outside the school, and the other has not been brought to the principal’s attention yet.

In the first video, a teenage boy and girl were caught by a man who filmed them on a balcony and then scolded them for having sex out in the open.

The teens are dressed in the uniform of a Mitchells Plain high school and no nudity is evident.

The boy is seen sitting flat on the ground, his back against a wall, and the girl straddles him, her grey school skirt hiked up.

The pupils got a huge fright when the man addressed them, asking them what they were doing, and the girl tries to hide her face.

Sex education taken to far in SA: East Rand principal suspended for allegedly impregnating 2 of his pupils

A Daveyton high school principal has been suspended with immediate effect after it came to light that he had allegedly impregnated two of his pupils.

Gauteng education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed the principal’s suspension to News24 on Friday.

Mabona said a delegation from the Gauteng education department, which included MEC Panyaza Lesufi, visited the school on Thursday and served the suspension notice on the principal.

“We will be offering counselling and support to the girls along with their parents,” Mabona said.

“Our investigation is continuing.”

Mabona said the allegations were reported to the department shortly before schools closed for holidays after the first term.

“That made it difficult for us to investigate and affected the process of gaining information.

“But since the schools reopened, we acted as soon as we could.”

The pupils were “literally sitting on top of each other” in the 16-seat capacity Toyota Quantum, which was spotted by law enforcement on Monday at the intersection of Standford Road and Ditchling Street in Port Elizabeth.

NSFAS-grants stand risk to be abused by students after it came public that allowances will now be paid directly into students accounts instead of using third parties

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will pay allowances directly to students instead of using third parties.

The scheme confirmed that it would do away with the voucher system, known as “Sbux” administered by third parties, a move welcomed by the SA Union of Students (SAUS).

NSFAS spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo said the scheme would disburse funds only in cash to students and universities and TVET colleges, through approved financial institutions.

“NSFAS wants to eradicate the voucher system that compromises choices for our students and limits their financial planning,” Mamabolo said, adding that the planned method would also eliminate payments through SMS and cellphone mechanism which were open to fraud and abuse.

NSFAS came under pressure from the Minister of Higher Education and Training Naledi Pandor, last year after the government’s university and college students funding model grappled with disbursing of money

The ANC regime needs to take responsibility for the chaos in SA schools – too few schools for black learners has been built as well as a shortage of resources, now traditional Model C schools are forced to cater to teach English speaking students

On Wednesday, schools reopened for the new school year, but thousands of scholars do not yet know where to go because there are too few schools and too few teachers.

In some schools, classrooms are so crowded that black pupils sit on buckets with an old beer desk crate for a desk.

It is reported that more than 6,500 schools have a shortage of furniture, and unskilled people are standing in front of numerous classrooms’ blackboard to try and teach pupils.

Experts point out that more than 25% of state schools are without enough desks and chairs for pupils.

A few new schools have been set up, but this compares poorly with the many schools burned down by pupils, and now black pupils are forced into traditional Model C schools, demanding that the school provide for English-language teaching for black learners . The school should also see to make teachers available to educate the black learners.
