Eskom is now clearly lying, obfuscating and playing with words after it came to light that they are planning to pay out R1, 8 billion in bonuses by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses.
Take into consideration that it was Nersa – National Energy Regulator of South Africa – that called it bonuses in court papers, which is obviously statements made under oath.
Does Eskom now wants us to believe them over Nersa?
Eskom is now playing word and mind games with us by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses . They also say that not all employees are entitled to these 13th cheques. That is where the lie alarm is going off and red flags are going up. What kind of employer does not give a uniform salary structure to its employees? Eskom also says. that employees can choose themselves if they want their total salary package to be divided into 12 or 13 cheques
So if we follow what Eskom has lied, we can then logically conclude that if an employee choose to have 13 pay packages per year and still gets an amount only intended for some employees, but not all, that amount only due for some is in fact a 14th cheque then.

#TheAfricanWay – SA Faces Extended #RollingBlackouts Due to Collapsing Infrastructure Yet Eskom Secretly Wants To Pay R1,8 BILLION (R88,000 per employee) in Performance Bonuses!
#ParasiticParastatal Eskom seems to have a strange idea about what a performance bonus is and why it actually gets paid. It secretly wants to spend R1,8 BILLION on performance bonuses for the current and following 2 years, even as we face phase 4-6 “load shedding” at the moment and it seems like daily rolling blackouts will be with us for quite some time.

The cheek of it all, eh? – Major municipalities set for 15% hike in electricity tariffs
Fresh from securing a 9.41% tariff increase in March, Eskom are now targeting municipalities with a 15.63% hike.
The greed at Eskom has expanded yet again this week, after the City of Johannesburg confirmed that a 15.63% tariff hike is set to come into force. In an official statement, Mayor Herman Mashaba lambasts energy regulator Nersa for their “disappointing correspondence”, which expresses the need to jack-up our electricity prices.
Eskom: Municipalities set for a separate price hike
The news comes just a couple of months after Eskom were given permission to increase their rates by 9.41% in 2019. In total, they’ve been given the green-light to put rates up by 22% over the next three years. However, the power utility has no shame when it comes to raiding the pockets of South African citizens.
Eskom’s problems are extensively well-documented, and their ability to use money wisely has been severely questioned. In fact, two interna

Eskom Corruption being ‘rewarded’ with 15.63% tariff increase – SA consumers now have to suffer but those responsible for the corruption and maladministration “continue to roam free” without any consequences for the actions
Municipalities across SA will now face a 15.63% tariff increase from Eskom, approved by Nersa. Mayor Herman Mashaba on Tuesday issued a statement in which he claims the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has rewarded corruption at Eskom with a 15.63% increase in tariffs.
“The City has noted the disappointing correspondence from Nersa, indicating that municipalities across South Africa will now face a 15.63% tariff increase from Eskom following continued tariff negotiations between Eskom and the energy regulator,” said Mashaba.
“This is after Nersa had initially granted Eskom a hike of 9.41%, 8.1% and 5.2% for the next three financial years, below Eskom’s application for a 17.1 % hike for 2019/20, 15.4% for 2020/21 and 15.5% for 2021/22.”
Mashaba said the Nersa decision means that the City of Johannesburg, like many other municipalities, “will be forced” to increase tariffs on electricity.
“Despite the City P

Eskom’s prior request for tariff hike slammed: Eskom’s stage 4 load shedding is a direct attempt to sabotage, and blackmail SA – Ordinary citizens are becoming the scapegoat to foot the bill of its complete and utter failures and lack of planning
The South African Communist Party says Eskom’s management is rolling out massive blackouts in an attempt to blackmail South Africans to accept privatisation of the power utility.
Eskom resumed with loadshedding for the first time this year on Sunday.
Power cuts continued yesterday and Tuesday after a failure of generating units.
“The management of Eskom, in the manner that they are rolling out these blackouts, is trying to blackmail us so we must accept whatever should befall Eskom. We should not be blackmailed into that. That’s why we believe that these blackouts can be avoided,” SACP first deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila stated.
Mapaila said one of reasons given by Eskom for load shedding was low stocks of diesel.
“Why can’t they procure enough diesel on time? It is all of those things that I think are just unacceptable. The reasons why there were blackouts and so forth were issues of leadership incompetence. W

Sorry SA, but we need more money, Eskom pleads – Eskom is asking for a 15% tariff increase over the next three years – but in the same breath employs more workers with hefty salaries
Eskom CEO Phakamani Hadebe made a desperate plea for higher Eskom tariffs over the next three years on Monday, as well as for more money from the government, while apologising to SA for the mess the utility is in.
Hadebe was speaking in Cape Town at public hearings held by the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) to interrogate Eskom’s application for a 15% tariff increase beginning in 2019-2020.
The application needs to meet Nersa’s approval before it can be applied to customers.
Eskom is in a dire financial situation, with a R419bn debt it is unable to service from the revenue it earns. It costs more for it to generate electricity than it recoups from tariffs due to a high cost base, which Nersa believes should not be made the burden of the South African public.
“I am the first to acknowledge that Eskom has contributed to its own problems. Eskom is compelled to apologise to SA for having brought these challenges. They could hav

Price shock beckons if Nersa authorize Eskom’s request- National power provider demands 45% increase in tariffs – Now taxpayers have to pay for state institution’s incompetence
National power provider, Eskom’s application to Nersa will be heard in Cape Town next week.
Nersa has already approved a 4.41% increase, but now Eskom is demanding 15% annually over the next three years, which is three times the official inflation figure.
Energy expert Ted Blom says the application should be scrapped until the forensic audit is completed on the statecapture that took place at Eskom.
Experts have disclosed a different outlook on this situation by pointing out that the power tariffs are already too high and should rather be lowered, especially in view of the fact that power is being sold to neighboring countries at far lower rates than charged to South-Africa itself.
The power provider also indicated that load shedding could be reinstated next week, which would further crippled the economy.

Shocking news, Eskom’s big coal whopper and they would like to point the finger to you the consumer for using too much electricity
There is no shortage of coal, as Eskom claims. Instead, the coal is piling up at the mines, uncollected by the utility, Anna Marth Ott, CEO of Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said yesterday.
Middelburg is positioned between three large Eskom power stations, and there are 170 coal mines within a 200 km radius of the town.
Speaking to The Witness on Tuesday, she said that Eskom had ceased taking delivery of the coal for reasons unknown to her, for the past month, and that its “wording” to the public about the coal shortage was incorrect.
“How can Eskom tell us there is no coal?” she asked.
Spokespeople for Eskom did not respond to questions from The Witness about the coal supplies by the time of going to print.
Ott is one of many business chamber leaders, including Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business CEO Melanie Veness, who have met in Johannesburg this week to strategise on how they will oppose, in a united voi
