The danger of huge explosions caused that no vehicle passed through the scene, and motorists was patiently waiting until everything subsided, a requirement for all.
On Monday, the cleaning process took hours to clear, and motorists were advised to use an alternative route that would mean many miles of detour.
Later, one lane was opened for traffic in both directions of the N3, but it took a long time before the traffic flow returned to normal.
However, unconfirmed reports say that another truck crashed into the tanker causing the fire, but the vehicle made it escape without being able to determine who its owners are.
