Black Monopoly Capital: Encouraged by racist courts, Barloworld is continuing to lay off staff simply because they are white, while Solidarity vows to intensify legal action after bringing an urgent application against Barloworld Equipment in the Labour Court, to challenge Barloworld’s consultation process during its recent race based retrenchment process.

According to Solidarity, Barloworld which manages brands like Avis, Caterpillar, Perkins, CAT, Timber24, etc., did not consult properly regarding the selection criteria used in order to decide which of its employees would be retrenched, because the selection criteria for retrenchments include, among other things, retrenchments based on race.

The government as Telkom’s largest shareholder has called for an urgent meeting to discuss the company’s plan for retrenching thousands of redundant workers.

Earlier last week, Telkom announced its intention to lay off about 3,000 workers, which is a fifth of its total workforce.

The Department of Communications and Digital Technology has announced that Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has expressed her concern about Telkom’s intention, and therefore wants to hold an urgent meeting.

Telkom’s shares rose 8% last week after the announcement of the retrenchment of 3,000 people.

Several economic experts believe Telkom has at least 4,500 excess staff, which has a direct impact on the profitability of the entity.

Even if you are the president of SA you are not above the law! – Ramaphosa faces possible Labour Court action for retrenching farm staff

The ANC’s president is not above the law, and his so-called cases of dismissing 22 of his 46 farm workers could land him in the Labor Court. Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed the farm workers in his service, and used the excuse that it was a business decision because foot-and-mouth disease could threaten his cattle herd. No one has yet been able to explain what the illness has to do with his staff’s dismissal, and now unions apparently want to drag their president to the Labor Court.

The farm workers’ union, Fawu, is apparently at the forefront and has threatened to take President Cyril Ramaphosa to task over allegations that he retrenched over half of his Ntaba Nyoni farm staff, in October. According to the union they are protecting their members against “unlawful” retrenchment, but whether the union has the courage to act against its president will learn the time, political analysts say. Death bells are ringing for SAA due to impending strike

The impending strike at SAA by the SA Cabin Staff Association and Numsa could mean the end of the airline. In the meantime, the Pilot Association announced that they supported the idea and that the state entity’s overall top management should be replaced. Furthermore, they threatened to act if a Chief Executive with no experience aviation experience and knowledge are appointed.

The imminent strike comes after SAA announced that a restructuring will take place to make the entity more cost effective. The SAA’s enormous debt burden means that it has no choice but to lay off about 1,000 staff members, but the unions threaten to call a large-scale strike if retrenchments continue.

Persons who will use SAA’s services on Friday 15 November 2019 were advised to make alternative arrangements as all flights for Friday and Saturday were canceled considering the impending strike.

SABC is going down! – Bankrupt ANC regime’s mouthpiece is sinking in debt – SABC shut down offices and retrenches 37% of its staff

The bankrupt mouthpiece of the ANC, the SABC, plans to close 5 offices and dismiss 37% of their staff.

This includes 19 general managers who emphasize the fact that top-level government agencies are overloaded with incompetent, incompetent and incapacitated cadres.

If the SABC does not receive further funding from the state, they may end up in the (lucky) position that the station should close.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communications and the management of the SABC are at a disadvantage around posts.

These South African companies are retrenching staff in 2019 – Most probably BEE compliant as well – Unemployment has already soared to 27.5%

Multichoice has joined the bandwagon of South African companies that are cutting jobs to stay afloat in these difficult times.

Why are these South African companies retrenching staff?
The satellite network stated that, although billions of rand in returns were reported for the 2018/2019 financial year, consumer behaviour and data on their digital self-service shows that there is less of a need for that many call centre and walk-in centre agents on their roster.

This is yet another blow for South Africa’s economy, whose GDP retracted by more than 3% in the first half of the year.

While Multichoice’s decision was brought on by pressure from the impending take-over of the fourth industrial revolution, other companies have been forced into a corner with very little choice but to sacrifice a portion of its workforce to remain financially soluble.

Parmalat joined a growing list of private sector companies embarking on restructuring that could leave hundreds of its workers jobless

The company announced a process to change it’s distribution model first in January and its implementation began in the middle of May.

According to the company, the new model involved partially outsourcing components of its logistics distribution network to an external provider.

Distribution services in Polokwane, Nelspruit, Bloemfontein, Upington and George have already been outsourced to an external service provider, while those in Centurion, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London outsourced to the provider will return to Parmalat.

“To minimise business risk, Parmalat SA has opted to, for now, return all the distribution services from distribution centre’s back to Parmalat, and to continue with the outsourcing of the rest of its distribution network in accordance with the new operating model that has already been implemented,” the company said.
