Eskom cannot deliver sufficient and sustainable power, ANC regime now approves alternative options

The ANC regime has finally realized that Eskom is unable to provide sufficient, and sustainable, electricity to consumers.

The news that the government has agreed that municipalities may start their own power supply is a complete turnaround in policy and is also contrary to the AMC-SACP alliance’s communist approach to control everything for everyone.

There are suspicions that several larger municipalities will do their homework, but informed sources believe the new step could lead to greater corruption and poor service delivery since no municipality has the skills to set up and operate its own power plant.

Livestock actions banned in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo following outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease – consumers can prepare themselves for some hefty price increases for meat products

TAU SA is shocked after the announcement that livestock auctions in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and North West have been suspended until further notification by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development. This announcement follows after the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Molemole district of Limpopo.

“This is a big blow to the livestock and game farmers in the country, who are already being forced to their knees by the drought,” says Mr. Henk van de Graaf, the regional chairman of TAU SA Norht. “The sale of herds was the only remaining solution for farmers who no longer have food for their animals and now this way of escape is also removed.”

TAU SA realizes that serious action must now be taken to prevent the highly contagious disease but they do not believe that suspending auctions will solve the problem. Rather, the government must ensure that the measures originally put in place must be strictly adhered to an

Motorists are going to have to buckle up once more since petrol are about to cost R17-per-litre in June

Being a motorist in Mzansi is a ghastly pursuit. The petrol price looks set to rise again in June, marking a fourth consecutive increase since March.

It’s not news any of us wants to hear. Although petrol prices forecast for next month won’t rise as steeply as they did throughout Autumn, the per-litre costs could rise by more than 30-cents-per-litre.

Why fuel costs are likely to increase next month
Despite an improved performance, it looks like a few things are working against South Africa’s road users. At a time where a good exchange rate could stop the rot, our rand remains rooted at over R14 to the dollar.

Furthermore, an additional Carbon Tax is being added on to the standard price of fuel. The initiative was given the green light during the Budget Speech in February, and another nine-cents-per-litre is getting added on to the bill.

The spike in the fuel price on Wednesday and growing unrest in oil-producing Venezuela have done little to assuage fears that the petrol price is set to continue its upward trajectory for most of this year.

However, economists believe the oil price is unlikely to rise much above $80 a barrel in 2019, and that the fuel price will retreat towards the end of the year. In fact, global estimates indicate an average Brent crude oil price in the mid-$60s for the year.

The price of petrol in South Africa increased last week by 54c per litre while diesel went up by one cent as the oil price neared $75 per barrel as it continued to rise since starting the year at just over $50/barrel.

The inland price of 95 unleaded petrol increased to R16.67 and 93 unleaded to R16.50, while, at the coast, 95 unleaded increased to R16.03 and 93 unleaded to R16.07. The prices continue to edge closer to the October 2018 all-time high of R17.08.
