Gupta brothers ‘to splash millions on double wedding’ at Himalaya ski resort – but controversial family still owes Sun City money

The family at the centre of state capture allegations in South Africa is planning to throw a lavish wedding for an estimated R43m at a ski resort in the Himalayas.

The Times of India reported that “unprecedented arrangements” are being made for both Ajay Gupta’s son Suryakant and Atul Gupta’s son Shashank to tie the knot at the “picturesque ski resort of Auli situated in Chamoli district of the Garhwal Himalayas”.

A “bevy of industrialists, politicians and Bollywood celebrities” are expected to attend the bash. Guests will be flown to the resort in chartered helicopters, the publication reported.

The celebrations will reportedly be held over four days towards the end of June.

“Almost all the hotels and resorts at Auli have been booked for the week-long festivities, for which flowers are being imported from Switzerland,” reported The Economic Times.

The Gupta brothers still owe money to Sun City after six years for the greatest wedding extravaganza of the century.

However, Sun City spokesman Zoleka Skweyiya says it is not as much as the media speculates.

It is unclear how much money is outstanding from the estimated R100 million wedding, and the possibility of recovery does not seem to be good.

Only in South Africa where people still believe in mythical superstitions – the latest one is that a water snake is the cause of a storm that has hit Sun City recently, and where thousands of rands of damages was caused

So apparently we are right back in the dark ages. A traditional “philosopher” Grace Masuku said in a statement that the storm at Sun City was caused by the mythical “water snake”.

Sun City is apparently built in an area where the ancestors live and communicate with the waters – the water hose is apparently the guardian of the area and is now angry for the places that were erected.

Millions of Rand’s damage occurred when a heavy hailstorm hit the resort, and workers will apparently recover completely from it.

A volunteer noted humorously that the so-called water snake waited a few decades before it became angry with the buildings at Sun City.
