People from across the political spectrum took to the streets of Amsterdam on Sunday to protest against the proposed vaccine passports by the Dutch government. The protest was so large that roads in the the city centre were blocked for miles, but all the mainstream media in the Netherlands tried to ignore or diminish the protest. Some claimed that it was only 10,000 far-right extremists, but that lie was soon exposed by the presence of young dance music fans, Hare Krishnas, religious organizations, pensioners, anarchists, cyclists, former police officers and soldiers.

Head of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF), General Solly Shoke, as well as Defense Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, admitted during the parliamentary session that SANDF has financial difficulties. It is also said that the deployment of the military to counter gang violence on the Cape Flats is not feasible because the army is not trained to combat urban civilian violence. SANDF troops have been in Cape Town for a week, but have not yet left the barracks because they are waiting for intelligence reports and still waiting on a withdrawal strategy.

JOHANNESBURG – The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has said a board of inquiry will be established to investigate the causes of a shooting incident between its soldiers and the Mozambican border police.
SANDF spokesperson Brigadier-General Mafi Mgobhozi could not confirm if there were fatalities and injuries during the incident which took place at Ndumo, along the South Africa-Mozambique border.
Mgobhozi said SANDF soldiers were conducting routine patrols as part of borderline protection when the shooting happened.
He said details around the incident are still sketchy – while the reasons for the shooting are unknown.
“At the present moment, we have a team which we have sent to the place so they can get more information.

Johannesburg – The state has set the ball rolling in its desperate bid to cut the public wage bill by giving workers aged between 55 and 60 until September to retire without pension penalties.
Guidelines for applying for early retirement have been released to thousands of public servants. The Star has seen a copy of the guidelines and also learnt that unions and workers have started mulling the offer, which became effective from
April 1.
Teachers, police officers, prison warders, soldiers and intelligence service officers are among those targeted for penalty-free early retirements.
Reading the Budget Speech in February, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni announced plans to cut the national and provincial pay budgets by R27 billion over the next three years.
“The public wage bill is unsustainable. We must shift expenditure to investment,” Mboweni said in his speech.
