Neither communism nor multiculturalism has ever worked, yet South Africa is implementing both at the same time to disastrous effect! Now Ramaphosa has vowed to rebuild crashing confidence in South Africa’s economy, and desperate South Africans, who want concrete things that can make a difference in the economy, have no choice but to hope he does. He promised real actions that “move the needle,”  however in Africa accountability is not required.

After a decade of low growth and deepening poverty, South Africans are looking for signs of progress, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa. He pledged “concrete things” to rebuild confidence in the economy.

SA economy in dire stress Mr Cyril! – No growth occurred and Gross Domestic Production shrunk by a shocking 3.2%

Despite the great optimism surrounding Ramaphosa’s election as ANC president, there has been no growth in the domestic economy.

Rather, the decline can be notice after the latest figures where released. Gross Domestic Production weakened by a shocking 3.2% in the first quarter of 2019.

This is the biggest fall since the world wide financial crisis in 2009. The manufacturing sector fell by almost 9% but all sectors showed a downward growth. The Rand fell by 1.4% after the figures were announced, while banks dropped an average of 3.2% on the JSE.

All that has increased is the government’s 1.3% increase in expenses. Economists believe the figures could force the Reserve Bank to lower interest rates at their next meeting in June 2019.

The major reason for the “depression” in the economy is power outages and higher income taxes. A further worrying figure is the 26.4% drop in exports.

A tech company, Proteus, just launched a ‘smart’ cancer pills that track you with tiny sensors stamped into your medications

A US digital medicine company called Proteus makes ‘smart pills’ embedded with sensors that tell your doctor when you’ve taken your medication. The pills also track activity levels.

Backed by big name investors like Novartis, Proteus debuted the first medication made with the technology – a form of the depression and schizophrenia drug Abilify – in 2017.

Now, Proteus is expanding into cancer.

Still, the research on whether the pills actually help patients take their medications when they should remains somewhat unclear.

Would a notification from your doctor as soon as you forget to take your medication help keep you on track?

A mother of a Grade 11 student wants teacher removed for alleged bullying

Nicole Mnguni, an 18-year-old student at Vorentoe High School in Klipspruit, died by suicide and her mother is demanding justice from the Department of Education.

Her mother, Jessica Mnguni, found a hand-written letter dated September 2018, that highlights the humiliation Nicole had to endure at the hands of her maths teacher. Nicole feared going to school and wanted her teacher to treat her “like everyone else.”

Jessica told Sowetan Live that words cannot express how she feels and added that the “so-called teacher killed this family.” Jessica went to the school to get justice for her daughter and contacted the Education Department’s district office to investigate.

She explained that the teacher was rude to her when she visited the school and said her daughter would not “be anybody in life.” Jessica, a teacher herself, said this behaviour was unacceptable. She explained:
