Rail transport system is already non-existent and now truck transport is in jeopardy – Trucks across SA in flames due to arson and attacks

Due to the collapse of the rail transport system, almost all suppliers are currently dependent on truck delivery for goods.

The roads of the country testify to the large number of heavy trucks moving day and night between centers to find food and consumables at outlets.

The recent months’ attacks on large trucks and their associated arson are hampering the industry. The Freight Association of SA announced in May that 1,300 trucks were damaged or destroyed in the past year.

Insurance companies now require trucks not to travel on roads between 23:00 and 04:00 due to the danger of hijacking and arson.

The most recent incident in which Bernard Groenewald and his brother-in-law where attacked near Touws Rivier d further elucidated the problem. National murder rate indicates that about 53 people per day perish, during the month of May alone, 46 attacks and 7 farm murders occurred

There are a considerable increase in farm attacks and murders since 2012, and especially after the recent elections, this is a major concern for TAU SA. According to Henry Geldenhuys, Deputy President of TAU SA, this state of affairs, especially considering the accompanying barbaric torture of victims, is frightening.

“The national murder rate of about 53 people a day is totally unacceptable to us and our members. In May alone, there were 46 attacks and 7 farm murders. June 2019 barely started and 5 attacks and 1 farm murder already took place; plots, cities and towns have already been excluded, ”SAID Geldenhuys.

The open question remains, when will concrete work be done at Government level, the SAPS and the NPA to curb the unexplained war on farmers? Horrible cost of violence against trucks in South Africa – truck drivers under siege by rock throwing thugs

Rocks being hurled directly at truck drivers is “something new” as a spate of attacks on the “soft targets” plays out on the country’s roads – some of them deadly.

That was the warning sounded by Road Freight Association (RFA) CEO Gavin Kelly on Wednesday, as reports of more rock-throwing and looting incidents emerged.

“Throwing rocks or stones from overhead bridges is something new. We’ve had rocks packed on the road or roads being closed off to bring the truck to a standstill and then burnt. But these incidents now are attacks directly on the driver,” Kelly said.

“One can compare it to what happened in the 80s and the 90s. There is a lot.”

Road Freight Association reports and in accordance their database, 320 people – nearly one person a day on average – died in the road freight industry over the past year due to crime or violent service delivery protests.

Real farm murders statistics for 2018: 460 farm attacks and 64 farm murders – yet SA president says no farmers are being murdered

From 1 January to 31 December 2018, there were 460 farm attacks and 64 farm murders in South Africa. That equates to one farmer being murdered every 5.7 days and 1.3 farm attacks per day on average.

Whilst the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa, and the ANC government is denying the existence of these attacks, the horrific fact is that the white minority are under siege and black leaders are openly calling for the killing of whites.

Manhunt launched after 10 terrorists invades farmnear Philippi in the Western Cape

A farm worker and a suspected farm attacker were killed after ten attackers struck on a farm on Sunday morning.

Sgt. Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said a farmer and his son were working on the farm at 08:50 when ten men arrived there under the pretext that they wanted to do business.

“One of the men threatened the farmer with a firearm and forced him to open a safe. The farmer then handed over an unconfirmed amount of cash. The owner, his son and farm workers were then forced into a store room, “said Rwexana.

She said a struggle had occurred and one of the farm workers (31) was shot. He died later on his way to the hospital.

The attackers fled with a white Toyota Avanza and a white VW Golf. According to Rwexana, the local security group has been notified and the police as well.
