ANC secretary general, Ace Magashule breathed new life into the party’s controversial debate on the concept of white monopoly capital when he said on Wednesday night that the economy was still in the hands of white people. He goes further by saying that if white monopolistic capital was redefined as monopolistic capital, students would have fought less aggressively against it.
Ace made the odd remarks at an event at the University of Witwatersrand, where he addressed students with the theme of building a foundation in the current political system. He says white monopoly capital exists and it is a reality that will not disappear. He again used the ANC rhetoric of the students who can now study after the freedom movements made it possible. He also took the opportunity to say that the EFF has no right to claim the concept of economic freedom since the ANC started it years ago as a pursuit.
