During a media conference, AfriForum revealed that a total of 56 white schoolgirls have been left out of representative school-netball teams due to race, despite having qualified on merit. This is according to AfriForum, that have obtained the scores of selectors for Gauteng’s u.12 to u.18 school netball teams, which shows that 56 white girls were left out of the teams because of their skin colour.
In response, SA School Netball says it is a pity that children are now being used by adults to promote political agendas, Netball SA (NSA) believes it is cruel if players are left out on the basis of race alone.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the parents of the disadvantaged girls, AfriForum submitted an official complaint to SA School Netball, Gauteng School Netball and NSA.
