Last week, a 17-year-old teenager near Fochville was raped and seriously injured. A man was burned with an iron, and the week before that, Liezel Wessels was burned with boiling water and stabbed with a knife shortly before her husband, Tool Wessels, was murdered.
This week South Africa continued to stumble upon the news of two young people, Johanco Fleischman and Jessica Kuhn, who were shot dead on the N12 on Sunday morning near the Putfontein exit in Benoni. Presumably by “caretakers” of illegal miners (zama-zamas) who thought they wanted to buy rogue gold dust. In fact, they were innocent victims of the crime crisis in the country after standing without fuel.
The shocking news about the two young people’s deaths also follows shortly after Annette Kennealy, 50, an activist of farm murders, who was cruelly murdered on her farm outside Louis Trichardt.
