The 45-year-old Robert Masuku has been voting in the elections since 1994, but now a new turn has taken place.
The Department of Home Affairs informed him that he had to bring his late mother because otherwise he will be considered as an illegal immigrant.
If his late mother does not come, he cannot get a new ID document, said the department official.
When he took his daughter to the Department’s Mamelodi office last year to get an ID document because she was 18, the official informed him that he was on record as an illegal immigrant.
He was born in Nelspruit and has a green ID book, but no, he is illegal in the country unless he brings his late mother to the office.
