Dissatisfied students of the University of SA (Unisa) started a strike at the Sunnyside and Natal campuses but have now expanded to almost all campuses across the country.
According to the students, their concern will be that the University remains “closed” until their grievances have been addressed. Unisa is currently handling a third of the country’s after-school students because of their distance learning model.
Results of the first semester were only published last Friday and according to the students there are irregularities with the results. They now demand that students be provided with their exam papers to check if there were any problems with marking the papers.
The culture of protest and destruction has been established by the ANC, spills over to tertiary institutions.
