The Ekurhuleni mayor said the metro would construct a specialised services precinct, but failed to elaborate on the project being a disaster.
A source has revealed that R6 million in taxpayers’ money has allegedly been wasted on an unfinished project in Boksburg by the Ekurhuleni municipality, Boksburg Advertiser reports.
During the delivery of his state of the city address at the Germiston Council Chambers last month, Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina said the metro would construct a specialised services precinct in Boksburg.
The councillor said the delays on the construction as well as the damages mean the project will cost taxpayers much more than it should have.
The mayor, however, did little to inform the public that the construction of the precinct in question has already proven to be a failed project, as the company appointed to carry out the job left the site almost a year ago.
