The far-left Max du Preez will again try to get a newspaper going, but this time it will be an internet newspaper that will help him not to go away so soon after it has been rolled out.
Du Preez decided after 25 years to try again to start a newspaper, this time the Vrye newspaper in e-form.
The original Vrye Weekblad was instigated in the 1980s by Du Preez, due to a frustration that the mainstream press lacked the courage to tackle the apartheid state head-on, Vrye Weekblad investigated and published stories which exposed the involvement of state entities in torture, assassinations and bomb attacks of those opposed to apartheid.
A quarter of a century ago, Max was forced to close his newspaper’s door because no one really was interested in his far left view. We wonder how many supporters and readers he will gain from his own community?
