The Johannesburg Municipality’s 10 new fire trucks for the emergency management service’s deal have now landed in court. Marcé Projects approached the Johannesburg High Court and asked that the contract between the city and TFM Industries that received the R500m contract be void.
Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba delivered 10 emergency services vehicles on Monday that were to be the first batch of the expected 92 that will reinforce fire stations around Johannesburg. Allegations that irregularities are associated with the contract are now being tried in court, and could become a startling incident. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the correct tender procedure has not been complied with, which according to opinion holders always presents a possibility of unlawful conduct
In July, it was revealed there were only seven fire trucks across 30 fire stations in Johannesburg.
