The unions Numsa and the SA Cabin Crew Association demand that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SAA, Vuyani Jarana, be reinstated immediately in his post.
This comes after Jarana announced that he had resigned.
The two unions say they will stop all flights from SAA if this requirement is not met. According to them, the government did not support Jarana in its management and decision-making, and its successor would only “destroy” the security of workers.
Observers point out that when a person freely wishes to resign from a post, it is out of his own good will and the pressure of unions will not change his decision.
