A 70-year-old farmer who was shot four times when armed robbers invaded his home in Marble Hall, Mpumalanga, is fighting for his life in hospital.
The victim had to be airlifted to hospital.
Shawn Herbst, the spokesperson for Netcare 911, said the farmer was attended to by paramedics after he was shot on Monday night around 21h20.
“Reports from the scene indicate that a 70-year-old male farmer sustained four gunshot wounds to his chest, arm, and leg. The patient was assessed on scene by an advanced life support paramedic and found to be in a critical condition,” said Herbst.
He said due to the seriousness of the farmers’ injuries a specialised helicopter ambulance was called to the scene to airlift him to hospital.
