Tumi Mokwena, who has been acting as Malema’s lawyer, was accused with attempted murder after firing shots on workers at the Zebediel citrus farm.
One worker lost his finger in the shooting at a wage dispute between Mokwena and farm workers. Farm manager Jakobus Swanepoel testified in court that Mokwena’s life was not in danger and that the shots he fired were unnecessary.
The shooting started when 30 to 40 workers confronted him. However, the magistrate found him innocent on four counts of murder despite state witnesses’ statements.
