Two Western Cape police officers have been arrested for allegedly stealing a state vehicle and cloning number plates.

According to Western Cape provincial police spokesperson Andrè Traut, at around 22:30 on Thursday, officers from the Bellville police noticed two vehicles, a VW Caddy and a police Opel Corsa, that appeared “suspicious” to them.

The officers followed the two vehicles until they stopped at a house on De Grendel Avenue in Parow North.

When the occupants of the two vehicles realised the police were following them, they fled the area and were pursued until they were eventually caught.

“The VW Caddy, an official SAPS vehicle, was driven by a police constable and he had two civilian passengers. The Opel Corsa, also an official SAPS vehicle, was driven by a civilian, and his passenger was a police constable,” Traut said.

Western Cape premier says 331 murders were recorded in the Western Cape for May and more than 10 people murdered every day

In May, 331 murders were recorded in the Western Cape, compared with 304 murders in May 2018.

“That is more than 10 murders per day in the province- lives cut short by senseless violence,” Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde said.

The statistics are sourced from the forensic services unit in the Western Cape Department of Health and not from the official crime statistics as these are only released by SAPS once a year.

Of the 331 lives lost to murder last month, 171 were shot, and 116 killed by stabbing with a sharp object. A total of 271 of the murders were recorded in the metro, with the remaining 60 in the province’s rural areas.

By comparison, in 2018, 107 people died by being stabbed with a sharp object and 150 were shot. A total of 246 of the murders were recorded in the metro, with 58 rural murders.

Western Cape farmers are being slaughtered by barbaric savages during cruel ongoing farm attacks while ANC regime is blindly looking away

Over the past few months, the Western Cape’s farmers have become the target of the savages that is murdering  innocent people.

This weekend another farmer was murdered, and the reason why the genocide continues is very simple.

The murderers are in most cases unemployed, struggling to make a living, and knowing if they are caught or later arrested means imprisonment.

For many, jail sentence is an “outcome” from the miserable situation they are in and is not a punishment for everyone.

The murder of Stefan Smit (62) is an example of what is happening because nothing was stolen during the murder attack. However, it is known that he has opposed a land claim, and there is a suspicion that the land grabbers are behind the entire attack.

Earlier, when the carrier of a poster, “We want Land,” was asked what was he going to do with the ground when he got it, he could not answer the question.

Public pressure on the ANC – especially in light of the imminent election – proved to be too much to bear so the Western Cape ANC returns controversial donation to Iqbal Survé

The African National Congress (ANC) has returned a hot financial donation back to businessman Iqbal Survé.

Survé announced on Monday that he had made a hefty contribution to the ANC’s electoral campaign efforts in the Western Cape. Through his company, Sekunjalo Investments, which has a vested interest in South African media, Survé offered the ANC financial support, estimated to be worth R1 million.

Details of Survé’s dubious donation
The donation, which Survé said was offered as a show of support for ‘progressive forces’, elicited both political and public outrage. It’s no secret that the businessman has been embroiled in an on-going investigation into corruption concerning the Public Investment Corporation. In addition, the fact that Survé also has a stake in Independent Media has reignited speculation of publishing bias.

Ace Magashule – drowning in corruption allegations already – made a rod for his own back on the campaign trail this weekend, after a sly “donation” to a voter.

The campaign trail can be a war zone sometimes. Even an act of supposed generosity can backfire badly, as Ace Magashule has found out this weekend. The ANC Secretary-General – who was desperate for a PR victory after a bruising week – did nothing to help his cause in the Western Cape.

Disgruntled SAPS members form new union and downed tools on Monday, claims that many experienced officers are being overlooked for promotion in the force

Disgruntled members of the South African Police Service have formed a new workers union. They’re threatening to down tools on Monday.

The group is unhappy about recent promotions and claims that many experienced officers are being overlooked for promotion.

These are just some of the issues raised by members of the South African Police service at a mass meeting.

Despite Bheke Cele’s assurance that there will be no protest action more than 400 SAPS engaged in protest actions in the Western Cape and Natal province.

Some officers offered letters of alleged illness for their absence in order not to be prosecuted for their participation in an illegal strike.

Cele threatened protesting members that they will be act upon, since the strike is illegal and they must return to their respective posts.

More borrowing, Eskom secures R1.5 billion loan from French Development Agency, they are so deep in trouble, how on earth will they pay it back?

The utility’s Group Chief Executive, Phakamani Hadebe, said the multi-tranche loan facility will contribute to Eskom’s plans to strengthen and refurbish the transmission infrastructure.

Eskom and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have signed a R1.5 billion (EUR 90 million) loan agreement to support the electricity utility’s investments in extending and strengthening its power transmission grid along the west coast of South Africa.

This loan constitutes the first tranche of a R 6.5 billion (EUR 400 million) multi-tranche loan facility signed between the two institutions in March 2017.

“This first tranche will be dedicated to financing of the Namaqualand Strengthening Phase 2: Juno Gromis Project, which aims to strengthen the power network in the Northern Cape Province, integrate renewable energy sources, and ultimately facilitate cross border transmission,” said the power utility.

Manhunt launched after 10 terrorists invades farmnear Philippi in the Western Cape

A farm worker and a suspected farm attacker were killed after ten attackers struck on a farm on Sunday morning.

Sgt. Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said a farmer and his son were working on the farm at 08:50 when ten men arrived there under the pretext that they wanted to do business.

“One of the men threatened the farmer with a firearm and forced him to open a safe. The farmer then handed over an unconfirmed amount of cash. The owner, his son and farm workers were then forced into a store room, “said Rwexana.

She said a struggle had occurred and one of the farm workers (31) was shot. He died later on his way to the hospital.

The attackers fled with a white Toyota Avanza and a white VW Golf. According to Rwexana, the local security group has been notified and the police as well.

AfriForum releases the 2018 stats on farm attacks in the Western Cape

The numbers are in and they do not look good. According to the quantitative research conducted by AfriForum, there have been a total of 22 farm attacks in the Western Cape this year.

The topic of farm attacks has come to the fore a lot recently, after the lobby group brought awareness to the issue. Many South Africans have discounted this, saying that crime is an overall problem for everyone in this country.

As true as that may be, a crime is still a crime in the eyes of the law. Moreover, it is more apparent now that criminals specifically target farms for cash and weapons.

Wake up SA and the rest of the world, farm attacks are real indeed! – Elderly couple and daughter attacked during farm invasion in Paarl, they were tied down and had to live through a horrific 1.5 hour ordeal

A farm attack took place on Lustigan road, Paarl in the Western Cape on 10 December 2018. Five masked attackers with machetes and knives attacked three victims of whom two were elderly, assaulted them and tied them up. Several firearms were robbed during the attack. Drakenstein Farm watch reacted swiftly with several other security firms and the SA Police Service.

Over the last week, several attempts of housebreakings on farms  were reported in Nieuwe Drift, Perdeberg and last night, the 10th of December 2018, the alleged same group of attackers were successful in attacking a secure farm on the Lustigan Road in Paarl.

Around 21:30, the group of at least five attackers wearing balaclavas, entered the main farmhouse. Inside an elderly couple and their daughter were enjoying the evening and were suddenly confronted by the attackers, they were tied down and an 1.5 hour ordeal began.
