ANC regime gets billed for R100m for 35,000 election posters – The taxpayer will probably now have to shake his pockets to pay the bill?

The ANC Treasury General, Paul Mashatile, was apparently unaware that an invoice was made for the debt to be paid.

It was apparently only when the invoice, with an amount of R102 million, was shown to him, that the sparks flew.

An investigation has now been ordered following the invoice issued for the delivery of 35,000 election posters that were apparently not approved by the party.

Mashatile was apparently unaware of the deal until the invoice was brought to his eyes, and an investigation is now underway as to who is responsible for the mess.

However, it appears that the ANC did receive and use the posters, and will thereby also be responsible for paying the bill.

#ParasiticParastatal – SA Express just another bottomless pit swallowing taxpayers’ money

It is disturbing to realise that recently another enormous lifeline was quietly given to SA Express while all the attention was on Eskom, the SAA and the SABC. According to the Free Market Foundation, SA Express received a lifeline of R1,24 billion from the government in November last year and was now given government guaranteed financing amounting to R300 million.

It seems that the Free Market Foundation forced SA Express by means of the Promotion of Access to Information Act to disclose its financial statements and managerial account data.

SA Express has become a large hole draining tax money from the fiscus dam and if it continues in this way, it will drain everything until there is nothing left. The ANC will have to realise at some point that the country does not have an inexhaustible source of money and that public enterprises cannot be saved from financial ruin indefinitely.

State Treasury plundering continues – your tax money will fund Eskom with a further R59bn

Eskom will receive a further R59bn bailout over two years from the government to keep the bankrupt power provider standing.

This follows the R69 billion already approved for a three-year period. Eskom’s debt currently amounts to R440bn and is considered the biggest risk to the South African economy.

How much money is still to be deposited in the entity is not known, but economic experts agree that Eskom will never get rid of the debt itself.

ANC regime is going to throw more money funded by taxpayers into the bottomless pit of Eskom, amounts are unknown

Amidst many promises and assurances before the general election, the lies have triumphed again, as Eskom seems to be getting more money from the government.

Stubborn reports indicate that an Eskom delegation has visited the ANC’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, and some of his cabinet members, and talks have been held in Genadendal.

Unconfirmed reports state that Ramaphosa has over-emphasized the importance of Eskom for the umpteenth time, as if alternative solutions do not exist.

Eskom has already splurged billions of rand, a large part of which “has landed in the sewer ditch”, and with the unprecedented and unfair tariff increases approved, it remains inexplicable to taxpayers why the government is again willing to put money into Eskom’s bottomless pit.

Although amounts are not mentioned, the ANC precedent confirmed that further assistance to the power provider was in principle approved.

Zuma has to pay more than R16 million for years of court cases sponsored by taxpayers’ money

The courts reportedly last week dismissed Jacob Zuma’s plea for leave to appeal against a finding that he can’t use state funds to pay for his defence costs.

Former President Jacob Zuma has reportedly lost his latest court bid and would have to pay more than R16 million spent over 14 years on litigation.

The Business Day has reported that the High Court in Pretoria last week dismissed Zuma’s plea for leave to appeal against a finding that he couldn’t use State funds to pay for his defence costs.

Zuma was trying to avoid trial on corruption, money laundering and racketeering charges related to the multibillion-rand arms deal, which first surfaced in 2009.

Poor workmanship and unfinished work by BEE company cost taxpayers R102 million

Poor and incomplete work at a development in Germiston leads to thousands of rands being lost with a R102 million project undertaken by the Development Bank and the Ekurhuleni municipality.

The project is wrecking due to the inability of the contractor, TCT Civil & Construction, to complete the work.

Poor workmanship is just one of the problems as the project had to be completed in January 2019.

Postponement until April 2019 did not yield any result. TCT, according to their website, is committed to transformation and empowerment and is a BEE company.

However, the company blames other contractors for the delay, but the R5,000 penalty clause imposed could be R170 000. Furthermore, the Development Bank believes that the construction company is not guilty of poor workmanship.

But will officials abide? – Massive changes for how municipalities can spend your money – here’s what you need to know

The South African government has gazetted new cost containing measures for municipalities, which will curb what officials can blow taxpayer’s money on.

The new rules fall under the Municipal Cost Containment Regulations for 2019, which was gazetted in terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act.

National Treasury said that the objective of the new rules is to ensure that resources given to municipalities are used effectively, efficiently and economically by containing spending.

The rules apply to all municipal officials and political office bearers and entities in South Africa.

According to National Treasury, failure to abide by the rules – ie an officer incurs expenditure that is counter to the rules set out by the department – will result in the official being held liable for financial misconduct or a financial offence.

This could result in officials being reported to the police on fraud charges.

Election cost taxpayers billions of rand, SA’s struggling economy has taken a step closer towards junk status

Apart from the fact that taxpayers had to foot the bill for the state’s expenses, the amount of which is unknown, but has amounted to millions. The recent election has pushed the struggling economy another step closer towards junk status with the tremendous expense of political parties.

The ANC spent more than one billion in its effort to remain the country’s ruler, while the other 47 political parties spent just over one billion rand together.

Political analysts say the waste did not show who convinced voters to vote for another party, and there were few changes, except that the FF Plus strengthened its position considerably, and so did the Malema party.

As if the struggling economy is being taxed even further, the ANC wants President Ramaphosa to boast of his inauguration at the Loftus Versveld rugby stadium where about 45 thousand of his supporters can see it.

City of Tshwane residents, this is where your tax money is going to – Tshwane spends R60 000 daily on abandoned business park

The City of Tshwane is spending at least R60 000 daily on the abandoned R525 million Business Processing Outsourcing park (BPO) in Hammanskraal.

Launched in 2016 by the then ANC administration, the project promised to create 3000 jobs through on-site training, technical support and incubators for small and medium micro-enterprises.

It stalled under the watch of former mayor Solly Msimanga, who attributed its stoppage to a group of local business people demanding work during the construction phase.

However, MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning Isak Pietersen said part of the problems related to the nature of litigation between the City and the previous contractor. “We need to negotiate and make sure we settle that because the aim of the executive mayor is to unlock it and make sure the project runs so that the community can benefit out of it,” he said.

Economist says Zuma government cost taxpayers about R470bn – What a waste of good money!

Nedbank chief economist Dennis Dykes says the Zuma regime has cost South Africa R470bn.

Dennis Dykes says they have done a thorough calculation that is South Africa’s loss due to corruption, maladministration and distorted policies in Jacob Zuma’s second term.

He says there was an estimated loss of R140bn due to taxes lost and now having an impact on the economy.

He also points out that government debt would also have been 49% less, amounting to R250 billion.

The amount lost in the latter half of Zuma’s regime is greater than Eskom’s total debt burden.

In response to the interview that appeared in Business Day, a businessman from Pretoria was merely saying, “Zuma, you bastard.”
