In 1992 South Africa officially returned to international rugby after decades of isolation and limited opportunities to play test rugby against the best teams in the World.

This is a look behind those first couple of months where the coach had to quickly assemble a squad of players to take on the four strongest nations on earth.

Adrian Jacobs didn’t play enough tests for South Africa. He was a brilliant attacking player with and eye for the gap and explosive pace. He had to play second fiddle to Jaque Fourie, but when he wore the Springbok jersey, he wore it with pride.
