The ANC’s Energy Minister, Jeff Radebe, acknowledged that the national power provider does not have the capacity to meet the needs of larger industries.

The developers and investors first want to know if sustainable electric power can be provided, but Radebe first waited for the election to be over before he could admit the truth.

The Vryburger recently reported that several major businesses have decided to become self-sufficient regarding electricity and are going big to get rid of the unreliable national power supplier.

Radebe claims it will need R1 trillion to meet the needs of the larger institutions, and it is well known that the country is drowning in debt and will not get such a loan.

ANC’s energy loophole – private institutions are going to be forced to supply Eskom with their own electricity

Shortly after several industrialists and mining houses announced that they wanted to become self-sufficient with the availability of electricity, the ANC’s Energy Minister immediately took the gap to help Eskom.

Minister Jeff Radebe has apparently “paved the way” for private institutions to generate power to be included in the Eskom network, but such institutions must first register as power generators.

Observers say if the minister’s intention is that private institutions will be required to provide Eskom with their own electricity generated, dates will come.

Electricity generation by private entities, according to experts, can only be used for own use without registering with the government, and cannot be made available to Eskom.

Observers say the private institutions that plan to become self-sufficient will not consider doing so senselessly by generating power and then delivering to the unreliable Eskom.

SA economy is facing a big setback – Industrialists and entrepreneurs are packing up and leaving SA due to Eskom’s huge tariff increases

The ANC’s president’s dreams are shattering at this time because of the huge tariff increases Eskom is now charging the municipalities.

Big institutions say they are tired of Eskom’s reckless tariff adjustments, and some industrialists have already packed up and left the country.

Industries that is depended for electricity to the manufacture of certain goods, such as the aluminium industry, have already left the country and moved their businesses to the Far East where power supply is stable and tariffs are much cheaper.

Anglo Platinum and Sibanye-Stillwater are two high profile industries that have already started investigating how to generate their own electricity to get rid of Eskom’s unpredictability with power delivery and tariff adjustments.

Meanwhile, many smaller businesses have begun to become self-sufficient with solar and standby generators and in many cases even cut their Eskom connections.
