The chairman of the board of directors of South Africa’s Nuclear Energy Corporation, Rob Adam, filed his resignation after only seven months.
The Corporation is struggling to survive because of financial reasons than just another state-controlled entity that is apparently run with incompetence.
The entity also undergoes a so-called restructuring that will require some 400 workers to be retrenched.
The proposed retrenchments left the Nehawu union unhappy and a power struggle is in progress between the two institutions.
Adam apparently indicated that he resigned because of the demanding task on the chair’s shoulders.
It seems that the constant liaison with ministers, staff, councilors and, moreover, a disgruntled union, made Adam decide to find greener pastures.
