A newly released report shows that South Africa’s motorists are being “sucked dry” with heavy levies while little of its intended for the right purpose.
Ten years ago, the total tax on fuel was R1.77 and now it has become R5.73 per liter.
Financial experts point out that the government is abusing the fuel levy to maintain their extravagant stance, whatever the new president of the country is trying to say.
Billions of rand are progressing this way every year, but the public says they see nothing that the government is doing with the money, except to pay excessively high salaries to workers who are not always up to the post occupied.
This is seen as one of the main reasons why the economic situation of taxpayers, businessmen and the state is getting worse.
