The EFF announced that they would not go into coalition with the DA in any municipalities as the DA refused their request that the red brigade receive the mayor in Pretoria.

They also said they would not partner with the ANC if votes were to be voted for.

Observers say time will tell how long the “promise” will last because money speaks louder than political promises.

The DA will not surrender the government of the City of Tshwane to the EFF, regional leader Abel Tau has said. Tau, also utility services MMC in the City’s DA-led coalition government, hit out at his EFF counterpart Moafrika Mabogwana, who has called for a fresh election in the metro.

“We don’t live in a banana republic where everyone can today decide that I am not happy with how people have voted and call for elections,” said Tau.

“In democracy, you respect democracy and wait for the next election cycle.”

The president downplayed the EFF leader’s suggestion that he adopted the policy for votes without ‘meaning it’

In his reply to the debate in parliament that followed his third state of the nation (Sona) address, President Cyril Ramaphosa downplayed Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s accusation that the president and ANC adopted the policy of land expropriation without compensation for votes, without “meaning it”.

“I agree with honourable Malema that we will not solve the social ills confronting South Africa without addressing the question of land,” he said.

He then committed to making good on delivering changes to the constitution which would explicitly allow for expropriation without compensation.

“Parliament will have to deal with the Land Expropriation Without Compensation Bill to achieve agrarian reform and spatial justice. We want to make all rights visible,” Ramaphosa said.

EFF loses appeal bid in Trevor Manuel defamation case and still face R500 000 in damages

The South Gauteng High Court has dismissed an EFF application for leave to appeal a defamation ruling in a case brought against them by Trevor Manuel.

In late May Judge Elias Matojane had ordered the EFF to apologise to Manuel after the former finance minister sued the party for alleging in a statement that he was a business associate of and related to new SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter. Matojane also awarded Manuel R500 000 in general damages.

The EFF, in a statement in March, had described Manuel’s involvement in Kieswetter’s selection process as “nepotistic” and “corrupt”.

Manuel was the head of a selection panel, appointed by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, tasked with interviewing candidates to head up the tax agency. The panel made recommendations for the top job, but did not make the final decision.

One can only wonder who is funding Juju and his EFF party in order to keep the Afriforum away

It was reported on 9 June 2019, that Julius Malema and the EFF had just paid a further amount of R109 098,30 to AfriForum to prevent seizure of their assets.

This payment by Malema and the EFF follows after AfriForum’s legal team placed them on terms for it.

This means that Malema and the EFF have paid an estimated amount of R344 000 to AfriForum to date. This amount consists of three of the five orders as to costs that AfriForum has obtained against the EFF in the courts since March 2017.

The latest payment pertains to the order as to costs which AfriForum obtained against the EFF and Malema on 14 November 2018, after the EFF and Malema attempt to obtain an urgent court order (to prevent AfriForum from removing the EFF’s property and auctioning it off) failed. This legal bill has since been taxed and therefore AfriForum was able to enforce the payment thereof.

The EFF has lost another court battle, and this time, it is against Karima Brown. The veteran journalist has won her case of harassment against the party.

One of the ugliest battles between the media and politicians took a significant turn when the Johannesburg High Court ruled in favor of Karima Brown in her harassment battle against the EFF.

How Karima Brown vs the EFF began
Karima Brown was initially targeted because they accidentally received one of her editorial notes. She had advised her colleagues to “monitor” an EFF gathering back in March but accidentally sent it to a group chat meant for party members. They took offense to her plans and began to hound her online.

Juju, with a following of 2.3 million people on Twitter, then shared her message on his page without obscuring the contact number. What followed next was a barrage of abuse, disgusting threats and vows to take her life.

EFF must cough up and pay R500,000 to Trevor Manuel for defamation of character

Johannesburg High Court ordered the controversial black political group EFF, to pay R500,000 for defamatory and false statements they made towards former finance minister Trevor Manuel. The EFF was also ordered to remove all statements about Manuel from its media platforms regarding the new SARS commissioner.

Manuel was accused of nepotism and corruption on the appointment of Edward Kieswetter by the red beret’s on their official Twitter account,. The accusations where made by the EFF pointing to a time when Manuel was chairman of a selection panel who had checked candidates’ applications for the position of new SARS commissioner. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court heard Manuel’s application, rejected by the EFF. The latter argued that the essence of their statement was the “legality” of the appointment process.

DA in bed with EFF – rumours are going around that the parties are in negotiations about installing a red beret as mayor in Tshwane

EFF leader Julius Malema said on Thursday that his party was in negotiations with the DA to formally partner in governing Tshwane and Johannesburg.

Addressing a media conference at the party’s head office in Johannesburg, Malema said his party wanted to take over the Tshwane mayorship.

He said the party would also join government in the city of Johannesburg as members of the mayoral committee (MMCs).

“This is a power-sharing … We have already started talking to the DA. We are sharing power in Joburg, we are sharing power in Tshwane,” said Malema.

There is little love lost between the two parties despite them both wanting to expropriate land without payment from white landowners.

A screenshot of a conversation that allegedly took place on Tuesday night between senior EFF member Nazier Paulsen and a BLF member suggests that the sixth democratic parliament may be as violent as the fifth.

Paulsen attacked Agang SA MP Andries Tlouamma towards the end of last year in a scuffle that didn’t see any punches being thrown, although they did end up being ejected from the house.

Paulsen later claimed that Tlouamma had insulted a female member of the EFF and he could not tolerate such behavior.

On Tuesday, Paulsen allegedly told the BLF’s Sphelele Khumalo, the regional spokesperson for the Cape metro, in a Facebook Messenger chat that he did not consider the BLF “normal” and accused them of cowardice.

Malema slams patriarchy after his wife was asked to take out fake manicured nail with scissors before at voting point

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and his wife, Mantwa, were shocked after an IEC staff member allegedly asked her to take out her fake nail to vote in Seshego on Wednesday.

“A staff member told my wife to take out her nail so they could put a mark and I found that bizarre and I asked where it was written that women who have long nails can’t vote.”

Malema said it was a patriarchal arrangement that had to be challenged now before it became institutionalised.

“The next thing they are going to say women must take out weaves because they want to see if it’s really them on the ID. Such nonsensical things, it starts small like that, before you know it is institutionalised. It must be challenged now,” said the EFF leader.

The EFF leader says the young generation of white people should extend an olive branch to black people.

Economic freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on Sunday warned white people who refuse to share land and other means of production, that if the EFF comes to power it will topple their “white privilege”.

“White people, you will no longer eat alone. We are coming to sit on the dinner table and if you are refusing us we will destroy that dinner table,” Malema told thousand of supporters at the EFF’s final May 8 elections rally at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg.
